Here's my write-up of the Draft. I wanted to hold off on doing an analysis right away to avoid the hype that is so prevalent right after the draft and get a clearer picture of the guys that were selected. I also added what my expectations were of the drafted players, both in the short and long term.

Check out that article here.

What are your expectations for these players?

Nice write-up, but for a 6-10, none of the draft picks projected as starters this year? That does not sound fantastic. Maybe it will turn out to be, but they need more help now.

Well, Ginn will be the starting return guy and I said that I think Satele has a fairly good chance of making the starting lineup. Fields is going to be the punter too.

What's more important is that most of the guys we drafted will be able to contribute in some way. They don't have to be starters to significantly help the team.

Well, I could see Ginn starting as our kick/punt Returner, Booker should get significant time as a 3rd down back, Satele has a good chance of starting by the end of the season, and so does Solail (sp?) especially if Truck Traylor gets injured. The punter should also start.

As for our most important acquisition, i.e. Beck, I think he has a remote chance of starting. IF for example, we get Trent Green and Green gets another concussion, and if he beats out Lemon for the backup position. Otherwise, next year, all 4 of our top picks could be starting. If that happens, then this will go down as one of the strongest drafts we've ever had...

You fell into the same trap that many have on Ginn...He was never hesitant to run crossing routes at OSU, he simply was never asked to do them. Because of his speed and the quality they had in other receivers, he was utilized to do certain things in that offense, which he did quite well.

As to press coverage, there is another myth about him. He's never struggled with press coverage. Look at game films (not just highlight clips), he can beat the press. Besides that, what Ds will have to worry about the most with him is those occasions that he does beat the press. At any rate, while nearly all WRs coming out of college have issues with press coverage at this level, it will be something he has to learn to disengage from, but no more than most other WRs coming out.

This is an area that Cam could really excel. His forte is creating mismatches against the D, so he should have a field day with Ginn and Booker...

I agree that Ginn didn't have as much trouble going over the middle and breaking away from jams in college as he is made out to have, but there's no question that of his weaknesses those are the biggest ones that he is going to have to face at the NFL level. By saying he needs to work on those things, I'm trying to project what his weaknesses are going to be at the NFL level where he's facing premier CBs all the time and going over the middle against monster LBs. The opponents in the NFL are always going to be bigger and faster than the guys he played in college. I think he's going to succeed, but it'll take time.

Great read, if we land Kendall, then I think Stalele will be our starting center.
