With this schedule we might have an opportunity to draft Brian Brohm next season. Not that I am hoping to do crappy. Just a weird schedule to me.
Ok Let me have it!

I defintely think we need to acquire a veteran QB, like Trent Green to lead our team this year and the beginning of next year.

I don't like the QB situation this year but I would draft Zabransky the 2nd day. He may be a surprise success in the NFL.

Next year we will be in a much better position to move up in the draft and get a top QB like Brohm. Hopefully moving up will be necessary.

Culpepper should be traded or cut as soon as possible. His very presense on the roster casts a shadow of doubt over the team.

How will we be in a better position to trade up next season? We have two second round picks this year and are already positioned in the top 10. There really isn't a better position to be in if we want to trade up.

I have been thinking this all along. The QB position will be much deeper in the draft next year with Brohm (my fav), Brennan, Booty, Henne, Woodson, etc. Realisticly, I don't think we're going to get Quinn this year unless we move up into the top 5. With our schedule I'm guessing well probably be picking the 8-12 range again next year and could move up just as easily as this year. If only Brohm would have come out this year, he would be ours without even moving up. Then again since I'm a Louisville Cardinal fan, I'm glad he stayed.:D

No need for doom and gloom this year already. If Quinn isn't available they simply select Stanton, Edwards or Smith and the problem should be solved. If the QB drafted does happen to flop, then the Phins can select another QB next year.

GO PHINS~!

Grab a QB on the second day and give the ball to Culpepper or Cleo and see. I want to see what a healthy DC or CL can do this year and I'm willing to sacrifice the play offs this year for it, if that truly happens. I say grab Kolb or Smith or Zabrasky with our 4rth rd pick as a project, and hope DC comes back to form. If he does, we have our QB situation solved already and if he doesn't , we will be set to take someone like Brohm next draft. One last thing, Mueler has had success finding late rd qb and making them a success .

I am wondering what makes so many actually believe we are that bad a team that we even have a chance next year at Brohm?

We have a top 3 Defense that could be even better in 07.

We have an Offense that in 05 with a career backup QB, allowed us to win 9 games, and if we had not had a confused O-coordinator, with a QB that looked like a deer in headlights, andf another was was a walking wounded, we might have reached the playoffs.

We have a chance at a Franchise QB, two of which (Brady and Stanton), were being talked about in an even higher form a year ago then Brohm is now.....which makes you wonder how good will Brohm be thought of if he has at the very least, an average year?

This year we will have an O-coordinator that is not afraid or confused to do what is need on Offense to succeed. We will again have 2 great RB (When Ricky is allowed back), and I expect that there will be a better plan if Daunte is again not ready. What this means is, this team will be competitive this year, and at worse will be picking in the end of the teens, and probably closer to somewhere in the 20s.

We have a slight chance at Quinn or Russell, and a very good chance at Stanton...we will have NO chance at Brohm next year.

I would like to see Brohm here. I wanted him to declare early to help inject something into this weak QB class. Would've been a solid pick at the 9 and since he's not here, we have to trade up to get a decent QB prospect. And there's no telling if we'll have a chance at him next year.

Every freaking year, you read these threads about next years QB's in the draft, Last year everybody wanted Brady Quinn.

Now that we may actually have a shot at Quinn, lets wait till next year for Brohm.

It never ends.

Exactly, it seems people around here continue to fall in love with QB not coming out this year. Last years many wanted Cutler, but no, there were those that said, we should wait this years where better QBs like Quinn and Stanton could be taken.

Here we are the following year, we actually have a chance to take one of the top QBs in this class, but no, we need to wait till next year to take a QB.

Well, no more, we have been waiting to take a QB next year for a while now, we have our best chance ever to take a franchise QB, and we do not need to wait one more year.

If you remember, I was the one pimping Cutler 7 months before the draft with a big sig, I wanted to trade up last year for him instead of taking Jason Allen.

Yup, and the way he looked once he came in for the Broncos, you would have been 100% right.

We can't continue to wait. We are wasting some great talent on Defense....same as all the great talent On Offense we wasted during the Marino years unable to fix the defense.

Exactly, and next year, when Brohm is being unfairly dissected and his stock is falling for no reason other than some QB who did nothing special all year has a huge game against a weak defense in a bowl, everyone will turn on Brohm too.

There are NO garuntees that we are in any position to get Brohm next year. We could have another late season streak like the year before last, where we suddenly win 6 games in a row and are now picking in the high teens. You cannot predict ANYTHING, if you could, then we would have been in the Super Bowl last season, because everyone had us as being at LEAST contenders.

We have a top 10 first rounder this year, plus two second rounders, a 3rd, a 4th, two 6ths and 2 7ths. Plus we have Culpepper to trade. That is MORE than enough bargianing power to move up a few spots to grab Quinn. What happens next year when we only have 1 pick in each round (as it stands right now) and we finish with a record that gives us the 16th pick overall (for arguments sake I'll use 16 since it's the dead center of the draft) and Brohm is a top 3-5 projection? People are outraged that a lot of people want to give up one of our second rounders, or even a second and 3rd rounder, for Quinn this year, because they "don't want to give up the farm for a player who could bust", but what do you think we'd have to give up to move from 16 into the top 5 for Brohm? We wouldn't even have enough next year so we'd be dipping into "future picks" too.

It's ridiculous. Yeah, we COULD tank and be #1 overall and take him, but more realistically, we probably won't be in any better position that this year, so you don't pass on a guy when you have this great of a situation in order to wait and see what happens next year. Hell, next year Brohm will prolly be the consensus #1 and the rest will be round 2 on, so that would make trading up even HARDER. At least this year people are drooling over Russell's Sugar Bowl so he vaulted Quinn and there are 2 top 5 QBs, meaning Quinn's chances of sliding are even greater. That prolly won't happen next year when Brohm is likely to be the only consensus first rounder. Everything is set up PERFECTLY for us to nab our franchise QB this year, you just don't pass on it.

As far as Brennen, shouldn't even be named, he is another Chang. Hawai'i's offense allows their QBs to put up insane numbers, and the guy has shown me nothing that says he can be a successful NFL QB.

I agree with you. Some of the posters here are being very pessimistic AND unrealistic.
The schedule doesn't look that tough, especially the 1st 6 games. Assuming we stabilize the QB position and upgrade 1-2 spots on the O-line I think the team can start out 5-1 or 4-2. That would take us out of the top 3 position in the draft before midseason.
