Draft Countdown mock draft 12/17/09

How do Cody's athletic stats compare to Soliai's? Because if Cody is just a giant boulder then why do we need two of them?

Soliai's athletic stats are just about off the charts for a guy his size,Miami has trained him to be a boulder and take up Oline men.

That's what they want out of their DT in a 3-4.

Cody has just about no chance of getting pick by Bill in the 1st round, because the guy would only play 20 or 25 plays here and Bill really doesn't like to spend high picks on guy's like that.

BTW~Are old starting DT is planning on playing here next year and with Soliai playing as well as he has don't look for a Miami to draft a DT before the 4th or 5th round.

Please explain the P.White pick then!

If the FO thinks Cody is the real deal then he will be picked if available, NT is way to valueable for us to pass. Now if they think a 3rd or 4th rounder is just as good then of course they will pass.

I really think they'll pick up a veteran NT to go with Solai rather then try to develope a NT over the next 3 or 4 years. Just as I really believe if they feel they need a WR then why would they want another drafted one and have to wait 2 or 3 years for them to develope instead of bringing in a veteran WR to compliment our young receiver core.

Well 1st off i was talking about what kind of player Bill picks in the 1st round, and your talking about a round 2 pick.

Anyways at this time last year we were one of the worst teams at picking up 1st downs.

Bill even said before the draft he was looking for firepower. They thought Pat would help them pick up 1st downs now and they saw him as a "real" QB down the road.......................If they didn't he would of never taken snaps from center in the training camp, and all he would of been doing was shutgun 100% of the time.

Then after we drafted Pat White, Jeff said Pat was fighting for the backup QB job with Henne.

So they liked Pat White much more then you,and thought he would help the team now and down the line.

I'm not Bill's, Jeff, or Tony's best friend and don't work for the Dolphins,,,,,,,,,,,,soo i can only tell you what they told the All of us, all ready.

BTW~ Bill has never drafted a DT in the 1st round!

I think if our old Vet doesn't come back we would picK up another DT but drafting one late is just a safe thing to do ether way.

As of right now Solai is playing VERY well and we have other needs.

You said a high pick and personally I thought a mid 2nd round was a high pick where you would expect him to start sooner rather then later.

They like P.White much more then me, yes of course but I'm not slamming P.White. My point is he is only a 5 play a game guy and whereas we all knew we needed help at receiver and the pass rush. I also highly doubt even the FO thought P.White would be a starter down the road, they we're higher on Henne then most QB'S selected ahead of him. BP clearly let it be known he thought PW could bring something different to the table but not as a starter. Of course their gonna say their fighting it out as the back up what else would you expect them to say....."Pat has no chance to start but we want to use him as a toy in our offense" then about 5 minutes later PW's agent would be asking for a trade.

Let's not go down the BP has never drafted such a player road again, everyone said that before they picked J.Long. They take the best player for this team period or they'll trade back (which happens to be what I think will happen).

I'm not thinking we will select a NT in the 1st, I just believe if BP thought Cody or Williams we're future studs then he will pick one whether it's a big need right now or not. I believe we'll pick up a veteran NT in FA and select one real late.

Ferg's take on Soliai play

“Balling,” is how Ferguson described his protege’s recent play. “You can make a lot of money in this league doing that.”
Soliai, a third-year pro, had an uncertain future entering training camp. Fluctuating weight and limited production (six tackles in 22 appearances) in his first two seasons put a premium on Ferguson, 35, staying healthy.
Ferguson said he’d like to come back next season, but if he can’t the Dolphins still should have a nose tackle.

So going by what i've seen with my own eye's and now a player saying the same thing most people should start to understand DT will not be a very big need, so it doesn't matter if King Kong was in the draft.

As far as the 2008 draft i was right about us drafting a LT and a QB in the 1st 3 rounds.

And last year they filled every need in FA and draft like i thought they would. So anyhow

I just don't see this staff signing off on a player they know will be battling against them tooth and nail on the weight control front.

I think the guy is heavier than he's purported to be, and he ballooned up to 410 lbs as a JUCO. What happens when he gets paid? Fat guys like being fat. That's something Michael Lombardi once said, and it's absolutely true. Soliai's weight is barely manageable and he was a verified 344 pounds at teh Combine.

As I've stated before I think there will be a ton of juniors coming out, pushing down talent at all kinds of positions, and the key to figuring out who we go with in the first round will be figuring out which positions have a heavy dropoff because more juniors isn't impacting them.

Right now I think Gresham cuold be the favorite. We'll see.

I would love to have Cody...but at a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
He is a great kid,i've met him a couple times.
He has that Refrigerator Perry(lovable giant) quality to him.
He will be a great run clogging NT..so to me that's not enough to
use a first on him,but like CK said .with the number of jr's coming out,
Cody could slide to the 2nd round and then I think he has extreme value.

damn... they have Jason Pierre Paul extremely high.. I mean i love the guy but hes only played division 1 for a year. I thought we might be able to get him with a 2nd or 3rd round pick...
