Draft Countdown updated 1st rd mock 10/27/12

Could happen. Would probably have to give up both #2's.
Way too much to pay. If he would drop to the 2nd round all you have to do is trade up to the top of the 2nd round...you have an entire night to negotiate a trade...you can do it for a 2nd and a 4th, maybe a 2nd and a 3rd at the most. Two 2nd round picks would, assuming we pick around 22nd and the Colts pick (which is ours) around 17th, put you in the low 20's of the first round.

I don't think either player will make it to the 20s either. It would be amazing though!

Could be more like Dion Jordan and Justin Hunter, which wouldn't be bad either. Werner plays the run much better than Jordan, but it will be interesting to see who is the better pass rusher.

It is a lot to pay. But if the Dolphins did that and ended up with both Werner and Allen, I'd be pretty happy. Again, picking in the 20's I don'see either player being there. Miami may be looking at guys like Dobson or Eifert in the passing game in the 20's, or maybe Jordan if they want a pass rusher. If he declares, Patterson is a very interesting option and a guy that could sneak into the first round based on size, speed and run after the catch ability.

I like Patterson, good hands, makes a lot of catches in traffic, physical player...but I wonder about his long speed. He doesn't look very fast watching him in games...looks like a 4.6 guy.

Cordarrelle Patterson could probably be first WR off the board if he declares early. You don't see that type of open field running and ability to speed cut on kids his size very often. Raw but brings the most upside of any WR in the country right now in my opinion. Perfect combination of elite football instincts and dynamic, game changing explosiveness wrapped up in a big, physical body.

I know Hunter and Patterson get all the attention, and as I said several months back, Zach Rogers continues to slide right under the radar. In terms of undersized slot receivers, Rogers is as good as there is in college football. All he does is run terrific routes, get open, catch the football, and score touchdowns. He's leading the Vols in TD receptions with 5. Clutch receiver with incredibly consistent hands and displays a knack for making plays. Great awareness.

Zach Rogers had a huge game against South Carolina...he was running wide open most of that game. Very good route runner and consistent pass catcher.

thing to remember with some of the underclassmen going later than people here would expect (like Werner) is that a lot of draft experts have underclassmen rated at different levels and won't really know where they are projected until after the combine. Hell in a lot of cases a junior/RS sophomore comes out of nowhere and all of a sudden he's a projected first rounder.
