Since I have never done this GM League before (I'm such a newbie!) I am curious how active we'll be in regards to making trades during the draft? I have multiple picks in the first, third, fourth and sixth rounds and plan to be active during the draft moving around, ala Jimmuh Johnson. So with that, I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread here that discusses trading picks and if you're on the clock and want to move down, or if a team you want to trade up with is on the clock, you can post a message here? It'll probably work better for teams trying to trade down so they can send out a global message to everyone while they are on the clock, and MAYBE the draft can run with some semblance of efficiency? Just an idea...

#1 pick is available, but it's gotta be good...I plan on taking McFadden.

#4 pick is available. I don't need a ton if I am only moving down 2-4 spots, and I am really not interested in acquiring more picks, I would like to move up with the ones I have though. An example of what I am looking for is:

I give
#4 and #78

I get
#6 and #50

Something like that, I really don't know if the points added up, I was just using it to illustrate how I would like to do my trades if possible.

Most teams aren't going to look to trade down unless they are higher up. Usually another team has to pursue them with an offer.... And there will be an official and unofficial draft board in the main GM League forum so people can post their picks in the official and talk about the selections, brag about their selections, and see if anyone is interested in trading down. It's wise to have a deal set in place before your selection occurs because you only have 5 hours to make your selection (unless it falls between downtime) and there won't be any exceptions.

Five hours is plenty of time for me to make a trade, three hours for the other rounds... Of course, I'm assuming there will be a level of interest in trading during the draft.. perhaps a foolish assumption :err:

Of course, teams will likely try to pawn off to a trade partner if they feel the player they want can be had later in the draft. But other teams may covet another player and have to contact a GM to trade up. There will be trades during the draft, I can guarantee that.

18th pick is available... I want to wait until I'm on the clock to move it though...

boy, I can't wait until we wait 5 hours for you to try to move ANOTHER pick that has no interest.......

Oh I'm sorry, I should have hurried it up so you don't have to wait a week and half to make your all important pick at 46...

Oh, don't mind me, I'm more worried about the bandwidth at finheaven.

While I'm sure there was a "flurry" of trade negotiations flowing through your PM box this morning. I'm thinking it might help FH a bit if you were to stretch the offers over the next few days, rather than in a condensed 5 hour period. That way FH won't experience a detrimental bandwidth hit when your much anticipated #18 pick hits the market.

:woot:

Seriously, if you let people know it is available now, they should contact you and make a deal contingent upon "x" player(s) being there so that when the pick rolls around you know if it is getting traded or not. So conversely, if no one shows interest, you can pick right away.

Or within 2 hours at least.

Just the problem with me being on the west coast, I didn't wake up till 8am my time... that left 2 hours to make a decision or trade out. I'll be ready to make a pick at 18 if my guy is there.
