Draft Strategy

IMO Why not trade down from the #9 spot? It is a deep draft and we really are pretty much flexible because we have needs at so many positions, plus it would give us another second rounder and the salaries of our picks would most likely be cheaper.IMO in this particular draft a #1 and three #2's is more appealing than a #1 and two #2's. What are your guys thoughts on what our approach should be? Trade up? Down? or Stay?

I'm about 60% on trading up for Quinn 30% on trading down 9.99% staying at 9 and .01% on forfeiting all the picks in hopes to get a high enough pick for Brian Brohm.

Oh its easy to trade up, damn near impossible sometimes to trade down. I mean I hear reports of us packaging picks for Quinn . . . ughhhh, Stanton has just as much talent and probably more upside than Quinn IMO . . . he just needs a mentor on the next level to rid him of his inconsistencies. I mean I just don't think we should trade up . . . we never have a full compliment of picks and ironically we don't this year either . . . but we do have a full set of first day picks, actually an extra one from the Welker trade . . . we need to keep every single one of those picks and put them to work. I think this draft is very TOP heavy, with a big dropoff in talent in the later rounds . . . trading up should be OUT of the question, especially if it involves first day picks lost.
Guess we will see.

im never a fan of trading away so many picks to move up a few spots. this draft is deep in WR and OL...positions we gotta fill. id keep on moving back...keep trading...some people say Ginn will be there at #20...odd.

Honestly, where do u expect to get Quinn. Many have him as a top 3 pick, hell thats even better than Calvin Johnson who many have as the 4th pick. So lets say u have to trade w/ Detroit to get him. U would probably have to package this years first, a second from this year and next years first. SEriously, people are thinking our 9 and 40 will do it . . . it wont, not even our 9, 40 and 60 will do it, not even close . . . its too much to trade up for Quinn. I'm all for him if he slips to 9, but trading up is out of the question.

We need a future franchise QB, but not at that price, especially when I believe this draft as a bunch of talented QB's that can be had in later rounds that may end up being better than him. Quinn isn't the sure fire pick like Palmer and Manning were . . . hell even Tim Couch was thought to be great but was a bust . . . u don't give up your whole draft for a player who may end up like Joey Harrington or Ryan Leaf. We can grab Stanton or Edwards w/ just using a pick.

I think Quinn's worth it but thats just my opinion. Plus I'm only 60% on trading up I'm not 100%. I know its a big risk and I really despise having less than 7 picks in a draft but if the FO wants this guy and are willing to do whatever it takes to get him them I'm all for it. But hey I'm fine with trading down too.

I like Quinn as well, and I actually would consider a move if he gets to possibly Washington's pick, but I just don't see him out of the top 3. Imagine giving up 07 and 08 first and one of our seconds for Ryan Leaf, it would set the franchise back worse than chancing on Daunte (which was only a second and there is still a tiny tiny bit of promise). I would mock Quinn at 9, because I would love that, but I just don't think he will be there.
