who should we draft for our first round pick? should we go with defense or offense? should we trade down to pick up more picks? imo we should address the LT. if it can not be filled through fa then i would trade up for joe thomas. LT is imo the most important position on the line. gotta protect dc blindside. if we can land an LT then i would focus on defense. zach may have one more year left and it would be great to draft a mlb and have him be zach's pupil while he is still here. another issue is cb. we dont have a shut down corner. both clements and samuels are free agents, but are cap room may not have enough money to land a big time free agent and still have money left to address other issues. if we can land one of those fa. then i would go with nt.traylor is aging and we would need a great run stuffer. many circumstances are going to arise and we can only wait it out

Seems like free agent LT's have just been one failure and disappointment after another for the Dolphins, although we have never actually signed one of the premium blue chippers when one comes along once in a great while. Wannstedt or Saban either one could never seem to find one that was worth anything. I don't remember if Jimmy Johnson ever addressed that problem. IMO the only way to have any success there is to draft one to develop into what we need. We just have to hope that the powers that be and the personnel people can manage to scout out a good one.

we should draft Optimus Prime if he's there. More than likely he'll be gone by #9, so I think either He-Man or the Terminator. I'm not sure which one.

Miami has a lot of needs and I have seen most of them mentioned as needs, and musthaves in these threads. Everything from QBs, LBs, OL, DL, WRs, S, CBs and even a placekicker. I admit most of these needs could be upgraded through the draft or whatever, but I was reading all of these threads and I was thinking about fans suggestions. It seems that there are many players each year in the draft at most of these positions except for one, Left Tackle. As important as this position is to our offense it seems that we can never find that one player to anchor the offensive line and protect the QBs backside. Miami has had a lot of outstanding offensive linemen over the years but it seems like its been a long time since we had an offensive line with an identity and that one player that is the glue that holds that line together and is the foundation or the cornerstone to build on. I realize a lot of positions are a position of need but I would love to have the chance to get that Left Tackle that has eluded us for so long. There are not many to come along that are blue chippers instead of projects or works in progress. When the opportunity arises we are going to have to commit a high draft choice to fill that need once and for all and as always that is JMO.

I agree, but this year there are not many good left tackles. Joe Thomas will be gone. Levi Brown is projected a RT in the pros and Jared Gaither is not worth #9 right now and will likely be gone when our 2nd round pick comes around. If Jared Gaither is top 10 worth by draft time though, we gotta take him. He's one of the Maryland freaks (Vernon Davis, Shawn Merriman, JG, and some guy that can bench like 150 lbs more than his actual weight.) I don't know when our chance will come for a LT. Tony Ugoh looks good but I don't know if we should draft him in the 2nd. If he falls to the 3rd we have to take him.
