Listening to NFL radio and on ESPN blogs there is a big divide in negotiations between Brees and the Saints. Apparently the Saints are willing to pony up 21 million, but Brees is looking for 23-24 million. They mentioned the Saints possibly pursuing Manning and letting Brees walk.
I don't believe the Saints would do this, HOWEVER, if it did happen could the Phins possibly free up cap space to sign Brees? If so, would any of you be willing to give Brees that kind of money.

The Saints are not going to let Brees walk. If they can't sign him long term by Monday they will franchise him.

Hm, In a hypothetical sense, 3/4 of NFL teams would free up cap space to sign Drew Brees. But he will be tagged at the end of the day.

That guys is what you call a stupid owner/gm..I live in Louisiana and they wouldn't win 5 games without the guy.he brought the team a super bowl and it shows you why they have had one of the worst franchises till now.

I would give 50% ownership of the franchise! LOL! Stop dreaming the Saints would completely destroy their franchise by letting him go! It's not going to happen!

He's not going anywhere. The problem is that if they can't sign Brees to a long term deal, they'll have to franchise tag him by the deadline. If they franchise tag him, they will lose both Nicks and Colston.

You can dream, just don't do it here. I brought this up a while ago and was lambasted, yes lambasted! for bringing up even the possibilty of Brees leaving NO. Words like loyalty and like were used to describe why Brees would never leave NO.
The NFL is a business, and evryone has a price. Manning is showing no loyalty. When ownership won't budge, players become defensive. PLayers want to play and when they get a taste of other teams wanting them with them, they explore options.

I like how Loomis calls Brees "very good" but not great. Dude, he broke Marino's record. He beat Peyton Manning's Colts in the Superbowl. Offensive player of the year. What a moron. Maybe Ross can shower Brees in money, give him what he deserves. Either way, we'll hopefully get him or Carl Nicks. Can't franchise both of 'em.

No chance in hell Brees doesn't have a contract or is not franchised by the franchise tag deadline.
