Hey I was watching a couple of Clips on this guy hes a stud QB, I also read on espn.com poll that he would have a better nfl career than Leak, smith and kolb. I was wondering wat is his draft stock prediction, 2nd rounder or 3rd if third I say lets get him

Yea i dont see him going 2nd round unless he has a heck of a combine...

Id would take a shot at him in the 3rd aswell!
Jon Beason or Meriweather in the 2nd is the most important :D

He's a second rounder at best and that's just based on pure physical characteristics, but he does have injury concerns, and he will definitely need to be coached up a lot to have any chance in the league.

right now it is looking like Stanton is a late second rounder or early thrid round guy. I would love us to draft him in the third sit, and learn for a yr, and be our future.

It's realistic for Stanton to end up in the 2nd round. I've even heard it suggested that he could move up as far as the lower 1st round. I don't see that happening. But I have heard some good things about him from the senior bowl practices.

My thoughts exactly. Except I don't think he will last past the 2nd round, and I wouldn't be suprised if he lands in the late 1st. I'll be pissed, but not suprised. We'll see how he does today.

If either Kolb or Stanton drop to the low 2nd round, that would be great news because that means we could trade down a few times and pick up extra picks and still pick up a QB. Even if we "reached" for him in the second round, I wouldn't consider it reaching. If Mueller makes an agressive move like that, I'm behind it 100%.

1st, trading down is no guarantee...there has to be a taker
2nd, we pick 8th in the 2nd round, so for the sake of argument, lets say we trade down with a team picking 25th-28th. So, there are potentially 17 teams that could pick a QB (either one of the names you suggest) before we pick.
If we trade down, it is done mainly to accumulate extra picks, not to "wait for a particular player to drop for us."
Aside from maybe the top 10-15 players, all these draft predictions are pure speculation at this time. They will change again after the Combine, and yet again, once the real draft is under way. There will be LOTS of surprise picks.

Of course...that's a given that there has to be a team willing to trade up, which is why I said "could." As far as trading down goes, I wasn't talking about trading down more than a few spots if possible. Trading down isn't always done solely for more picks. It makes salary cap sense to trade down, acquire more picks, AND get the player you want (although it's a gamble).

I agree with you though in that there will be many surprise picks as there are every year, which makes trading down even more dangerous for the QB position. Since it's the most important position in football, I could easily see a team like Carolina "reaching" for a QB.

Decisions, decisions, decisions...April 28th will be a very interesting day.

we pick 7th in the 2nd round, not the 8th.

Staton is a 4th-5th round prospect. he can climb a bit if he shows decent signs of intelligence but right now its not looking so hot.

With the people on this website it seems that you are either a 1st round, or a 2/3rd rounder..

I would have thought so, but it appears the way it will work with rotating the 3 teams tied with a 6-10 record, is that, on rd 2, the team that picked 7 on rd 1 goes to the bottom (picks 9) and the other 2 teams move up, making us pick 8.

at least, we do not pick 9th every rd.

I didn't say "solely", I said "mainly".

In any event, the main point I was making, and i think we agree on, is, if the player you really want is there, grab him....don't gamble by trading down.

Drew Stanton would be a very nice pick in the 2nd or 3rd round...I think hes going to be good, he has all the tools you look for in a QB

I don't get it, what exactly is good about Stanton? They say as far as his college ball play he's inconsistent, has accuracy issues with the deep ball, average arm strength, and bad mechanics.

Also during the Senior bowl practices he really didn't show much of anything at all and yet still there are so many on here who want to draft him in 1st day. Is it because he's 6'3?
