Strengths:
Stanton has good size and excellent arm strength. Stanton is a top notch athlete at the quarterback position, as he even played special teams early in his career at Michigan State. When he is on, he is as good as any quarterback in the draft. Already has the ability to make most NFL throws and will be able to adapt to a number of different offenses, as he can throw from the pocket and throw on the run.
Weaknesses:
He must become a more consistent player. At times he is lost on the field and forces the ball, resulting in turnovers. After making mistakes, he appears to lose confidence. He will be forced to learn a more complicated offense than he ran at Michigan State and he must become more comfortable with being under center, after playing primarily out of the shotgun. He has had durability issues at Michigan State, including a severe knee injury.
Overall:
Physically, Stanton is very good NFL prospect and he has the ability to be a Pro Bowl quarterback. He must become much more consistent and have more confidence in himself after making mistakes. A great prospect for a coach that has a history of developing quarterbacks, as the base is there to become a valuable NFL quarterback.

As I posted in another thread, while I would be happy if we got Stanton I believe there are better options out there (outside of Quinn and JRuss, I like Kolb and Beck). Stanton's passes seem to hang in the air and my biggest worry for him is that he seems to lock onto receivers too much. I think these are bigger concerns than his durability issues, which I don't think will be a problem.
On the flipside, I do like his ability to scramble and he does seem to have the swagger most QBs need to be successful.

This is the key phrase.

"A great prospect for a coach that has a history of developing quarterbacks, as the base is there to become a valuable NFL quarterback."

I think that is what Cam likes!

Stanton seems to stare down his receivers too long.....which leads to a lot of forced throws or INT's....one bad throw and he seems to go into a funk. I would rather take Kolb, Beck, or Edwards before Stanton. I think Kolb is a very athletic QB and will take some tough hits and keep coming right at you. I also like Beck as he is a very accurate thrower despite him being 25 and soon to be 26. I saw Beck play against Air Force and I am hoping the Phins grab him in the 2nd if we don't get Quinn.

Very good post.

This is my reserve about Stanton aswell Roman. I would also rather see a Kolb or Beck experiment if Quinn is not available.
