The number of dropped picks is bothering me almost as much as the offensive line issues. Look, I give credit to the defender and the defensive call that the guy is in the position to make a play. The process is right. However, these dropped picks could have allowed the Fins to be at least 9-7 last year (and would have laid an *** whopping on the Jets in the Meadowlands.

Last night, the TB starters do not score if we handle the potential turnovers AND we score an additional 3 points at least.

If we want this to be an elite defense, the turnovers must come. MUST.

Absolute game changers. You want a playoff team, get tons of turnovers.

Sean Smith dropped a pass right to him against the Ravens last year. He probably dropped about 5-6 others like that one. Davis dropped a pic yesterday. The Defense got zero turnovers. Pre Season mirrors the regular season. I expect we'll lose the TO battle again this year, I expect more dropped pics, and I expect the OL play will be a big problem as we have zero depth there.

Yes, we cover well, yes, we hit hard, but we also must, MUST catch those picks!!! Fine these DB's!! If it's not a FO rule to fine the players for dropping them, then Hey Vontae, hey Bell...Play a game with your other db's-Pay each other for dropped picks! If the ball comes out of your hands, money comes out of your pockets. I dare you.

Our defenders need to spend some time after practice with Reggie Bush and the jugs machine.

Yeah Vontae has no excuse for not catching that one that deflected off of Misi I think it was(I don't have direct tv so I am forced to watch crappy streams on my laptop). Especially after the best cb duo in the league claims. Smith IMHO has fallen victim to the hype he had behind him coming out of his first pre season. He came out looking like a beast and many were claiming he was better than Vontae, and while he is a more than serviceable cb in the league I can't help but feel a little disappointed in his lack of play making ability.

That being said though I am not particularly worried about out D. We have a solid D-line, one of the better LB trios in the league in Dansby, Wake, and Burnett(still not completely sold on Misi although I think he is a solid player). Despite the ridiculous claim by Davis, we do have better CBs than most teams in the league. The only positions I am worried about are both safeties, but I am a fan of Reshad Jones and think he will continue to develope.

All of that combined with the fact that Chad Henne starting to look like a somewhat decent starter as opposed to the glorified back up he has played like over the last few years; leads me to be hopeful for this team.

we have never had corners that can consistently catch balls. madison and surtain, now davis and smith. o the joy

You are absolutely correct!

I'm going to go a step further and say this D will never be an elite D until it creates turnovers and I am more concerned about this than the O line. I dont care were we rank in stats with this D, if you do not create turnovers you won't scare anyone.....Last yr we ranked 6 in Defense and the Pats 25.....the Pats D was ranked 1st in turnovers, there D sucked but they made up for it by getting turnovers and more teams feared there D than ours......I am tired of seeing easy int being dropped or when we get a turnover is brought back because of a penalty......we need this D to be elite in order for us to compete with the Pats and Jets for the division and its time they get there act together.....being good is not good enough......

On another note, while searching stats on NFL.com I mistaking look at stats for most yd this preseason and our boy Henne leads the league....better get a look at it who knows you may never see it again

Turnovers are the difference makers. You are dead on about creating turnovers. That is how become elite and win divisions.

I believe we would have won 3 more games last year if we would have just held on to the interceptions. Jets, Detroit and Browns.

Yep. Totally agree. AND killed the Jets in New Jersey. That counts for something too! LOL.

It's good to see all our defensive backs catching footballs from the jugs machine with Reggie
after practices...oh wait, Reggie has been by himself
