Just watched most of the Steelers game and I gotta say CAN OUR GUYS CATCH. The O-line can't run block to save their lives but the pass blocking wasn't so terrible that no plays could be made at all. One of the sacks was all Randy McMichael as he got steamrolled by an LB who cruched Gus for the sack. I'm hoping McMichaels head just wasn't in this game for some reason because he was easily the worst starter on the field for us in this one. I know he can catch and block better than that. McDougle missed the pickup on the TD play and I really didn't notice who was responsible for the other 2 sacks but most of the pressure that is getting to the QB's are coming from blitzers. There is plenty of work to do up front and Houck definetly has his work cut out for him. With that being said, there were absolutely plenty of plays to be made in that game but the skill players let Gus down over and over again. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt in this one but they all need to realize that if they can't make plays whe they are there we are in huge trouble. Randy McMichael should be ashamed of himself for his performance in this one.

This next preseason game is the most important one to date. Hopefully we see some improvement.

Good points on all counts...but its the good teams that make those catches and the bad ones that don't...we'll see in what category we land in very soon.

It's funny, we had this QB competition this training camp, with people coming down on the side of Gus or AJ. Looking at last game, you can see that the same problems which made AJ look awful last season are making Gus look bad this pre-season: poor blocking from the OL, drive-killing drops from McMichael, and blitzers running over/through/around McMichael. Until we get those things squared away, we won't really get to see what ANY QB has to offer us on the field.
And McMichael? If he does not improve, and show some consitency, as well, in the first three games of the season, we should trade him to some sucker team that foolishly believes that they can whip him in shape. The Redskins have shown the tendency to overpay for has-beens or never-wases, maybe we should start with them
