Here are two DT's that are working their way up the depth chart, and could emerge even further this off-season. I liked what I saw in Vickerson before he was injured, and we all got to see the kind of player Wright can be when he's pumped up and ready to play. I was curious, and interested in everyone's expectations for both of them this year....

I know I'll be keeping a close eye on both of them during the 2006 training camps, and I have hope that both will turn out as full time starters in the near future. Wright was a steal for a conditional 5th last year, and Vickerson was showing strong promise before his injury. Let's see if they can take it to the next level and help us out at DT this year...

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I think each may start at least one game this year. I really like those kids and at least hope for them to be healthy and contribute so they will be in good shape to take over a starting role by their 3rd season.

Manny Wright's gonna be a stud.

I don't understand why everyone is gaga for Vickerson. He was a 7th round pick!!! And he's coming off an injury. I don't get it.

From what I've seen, which is very little from both of them, I wouldn't spend a first day draft pick on a DT this year. I want to see more of these guys.

Motivation issues were what dropped his stock in the draft...if Saban can solve those, and it appeared that he had in the short time that Vickerson did play, he's going to be a force. He's strong like bull.

Then you must not of been a Phin fan before those cheap shotting Falcons game. He was way ahead of Manny and well liked by the vets. Just ask the reporter that compared the two in front of Kevin Carter.

vickerson was a steal as a 7th round pick, he was a 4th round projection in the draft and he was a top 25 and top 50 prospect when he leaves high school, he is young and talented, so he could develop into a good player with the help of coach saban and the rest of the dolphins defensive coaching staff...

he's a tough son of a gun too....
The result was Vickerson regaining a starting job, this time at left tackle. Vickerson had a career-high 46 tackles (31 solos) with 4½ sacks, 10½ stops for losses, seven pressures and a blocked kick. What made those figures even more remarkable was that he played through two injuries that should have sidelined him. In the team's third game, he suffered a right ankle sprain vs. Notre Dame. But, after several plays on the sideline, he sneaked back on to the field in the fourth quarter, stopping Irish tailback Travis Thomas just short of a first down on a second-and-3 play in a tough 31-24 loss.

He continued to play in every game, though it was obvious vs. Indiana and Iowa that the ankle was still bothering him. In the Spartans' third game, a violent collision with OSU center Nick Mangold resulted in both combatants being helped off the field. Vickerson had again sprained his right ankle, but the injury was so severe his foot was placed in a protective boot. Some coaches were counting him out for the final three games, but the following week he was back on the field and produced some of his best efforts for the season in those final contests.

I'm not "gaga" over Vickerson, but I think I know a decent player {with solid potential}, when I see one.

Before being injured, Vickerson was making nice strides in my opinion. He wasn't dominating by any means, but after losing both Chester / Bowens, I was impressed with what I saw from him during the mini/training camps. I was very depressed after hearing about is injury because he was one player that stood out in my eyes....

He may emerge in 2006, he may not. But with Dom Capers onboard, I'm certainly interested in seeing what both of these guys can accomplish...

PHINZ RULE!!!!

im very interested to see how wright and vickerson do in training camp last year. im not expecting them to really start this year but i think its very reasonable to expect them to provide great rotational play.

If Wright can keep his weight down, I can see both of them starting at ends if we move fully to a 3-4 D. For now, I think both can contribute in the rotation and I wouldn't spend a first day pick on a DT, I think those two will do fine.

I think they can both be very solid 4-3 front guys, my questions are raised when we talk about the 3-4. I don't know enough/Haven't seen enough to know if they can play well in the 3-4. From what i saw Manny's strenghts are his quickness, and tenacity. I don't know if that will translate well intot he 3-4. Vickerson I really have no clue. I too will keep my ears open when the camp reports start coming out on these guys

Vickerson im going to expect more out of than Wright but i like both of there size at DT's and hope Saban can develop the into the new BIG stoppers on our Dline
