I know this is really really early to worry about next year's DTs, but what do you think our dts will look like next year if we carry 5 DTs? Holliday will probably test free agency, Traylor might retire, Zgonina might not make the team this year, so who makes it? The reason I asked DT's is because I think our DE's will most likely be the same (Carter, Taylor, Roth, Bowens) unless something unnatural happens. What do u guys think???
 
Well, if Fred Evans keeps developing I can imagine him and Big Daddy doing the rotation. Unless we pick up a bonafide starter via draft (early rounds) or free agency.

That's a tough question, too many question marks there..
Manny Wright could possibly be back...
Kevin Vickerson might secure a spot, who knows..
Rodrique Wright might be healthy then, he's an interesting prospect, I don't know if he'd fit the NT position, probably not, but he's a DT that would fit the 3-4 I guess, as "outside" DT..
 
i think as long as zgonina doesnt retire he will still be here he is a good player and has been around for a few years so should traylor retire he will step into that veteran type role. vickerson showed some promise in the first game and seems to have been doing alright in training camp, should vickerson hang around he will probably be their again on a 1 year deal if he wants to p[lay and depending on how he does this season. i dont see manny wright returning next season i expect him to get traded for a very low draft pick. i wouldnt be suprised to see us draft a DT tackle relatively early next draft and as for rodrigue wright well i guess we will just have to see how he develops
 
R. Wright goes behind Holliday. We will see if Evans can be the man at NT by then. It would be very wierd if we got two thirds of our d-line in the same seventh round, huh?
 
Rodrique Wright could be a monster for us, should be healthy by next year. Don't think Zgonina (sp?) will be cut either.
 
i hope we keep holliday I dont want to see him leave, i hope 1 of the young guys step up even this year maybe wright or evens, maybe rodrique will next year
 
Wilkerson will still be here [although I suppose he could retire IF a SB is won] ...

Traylor will likely be gone ... Zgonina 'could' be gone THIS year with the addition of Wilkerson [I only see 5 DT/NT on the roster] ... but definitely next

The decision on Holiday will be made next year ... he might want to return based off of the potential success this year ...

Then you have Evans, Wright [R], Vickerson and who knows with Wright [M] ...


This year ... Wilkerson, Traylor, Holiday [Evans, Zgonina, Vickerson] -- keep a maximum of 2 ....

Next year ... Wilkerson, Evans [Holiday, Vickerson, Wright, Wright] -- keep a maximum of 3 ..

You are correct, for DE -- there won't be much change for at least another year or 2 ... Taylor, Bowens, Carter and Roth won't change -- baring injury of course.
 
i see traylor playing more at the beggining of the year and then i see dan wilkinson just stroll right in and fit perfectly.....vonnie holliday will resign....he adds really good depth at DT/DE and vickerson will probably be brought in a couple times with evans just to see how they develop into that type of position but as for Manny Wright, i have no clue whats gonna happen to him....i say we keep zgonina(this year only), wilkinson, holliday, Rod Wright, evans, vickerson and tralyor(this year only)......thats my perspective.....

yeah, as soon as i heard manny wanted to be dropped from the team, i went and checked out some of the potential draft DTs next year
 
I think DT is a deep position for us. Big Daddy will be back next year. We will have young depth with size. Vickerson,Evans,Rod Wright,and Manny Wright will all be rotating next year,and playing at a very high level. One thing I noticed Sat that the young guys are big and can play. We could use depth at LB after the starters sat the reserves didn't make any plays. I was hoping Pope,Hodge,and Newman could step up and make some plays.
 
Hopefully dropping to the 7th and some veteran suppor will light a fire under Rod Wright because he could be a special player for us
 
I got a feeling Nick will be drafting DE or DT first next year...

DE probably if any good players are available when we pick, hopefully last in the first round...:evil:

well i like fred evans,and i think our DT's have a good 2 years left in them,giving us a chance to draft one
