The Moment Philbin was hired he said that the team don't "need a go-to-receiver". I knew we're phucked, because he's clueless.
For that reason, among others, I believe Brandon Marshall was traded. Since then what we've experienced with this team is beyond any explanations. A team without direction nor strength.

We watched with horror the final two games of last year and what I noticed was how our receivers being played (jammed and covered) because they are not and not physical enough. Same thing last week and yesterday, folks! Opposing teams have figured us out. This team has become so predictable and easily beatable.

I said in many posts and threads that this team needs some big and physical receivers. And what do you know, the new GM went and got some. He signed WR Kevin Cone (6-2, 216), WR Damian Williams (6-1, 193), WR Stephen Williams (6-5, 208) -The tallest receiver on the roster. He even signed a "dead president" WR Gerald Ford (6-3, 223) then he drafted WR Matt Hazel (6-1, 198) in the sixth-round. Alas ! none of them made it to the 53 man squad. I thought the team was shoddily put together but then I also thought that Lazor would be a factor.

Successful teams are built the same way, you get your QB, then your WR, your RB and TE. All you have to do is look at the Cinccy. Atlanta, New Orleans et al. For three years in a row now, Miami Dolphins have a chance to follow suit but no we like to do things differently and the results have been different. WE NEED PLAYERMAKERS FOLKS!

BLESS YOUR HEARTS DOLPHINS FANS CAUSE I DON'T KNOW HOW WE STOMACH THIS PILE OF GARBAGE FOR SO LONG

This is why Brandon Marshall was traded: http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/bears/post/_/id/4675509/a-timeline-of-marshall’s-off-field-problems

Marshall is right up there with Ray Rice imo. I think I'm just going to bookmark that article for when the monthly "why did we trade Marshall" threads surface.

What article are you going to use to defend the trading for Marshall in the first place, and for 2 second rounders no less? Typical Dolphins approach to player development-- "well we have no eye for drafting talent, so we're going to have to overpay for this 'star' whose worn out his welcome with his current team. And who cares if the whole thing blows up in our face. Ross will probably give us a raise, you know, for trying."

[Granted, this being the Dolphins, those draft picks probably wouldn't have amounted to much anyway. But it's still not a good idea to pay a high price for a risky player.]

Problem with trading Marshall wasn't trading Marshall. Marshall was a cancer and a time-bomb. We also forget that he had a lot of bad plays while he was here... drops, falling out of bounds for no reason, etc.

The problem was that our replacement plan was Legedu Naahands and Chad Johnson.

Should have hired McCoy.

I thought you wanted Fisher?

I originally wanted Zimmer, but after he was eliminated I wanted McCoy. Philbin was just too much of an unknown, but we did know that he was more of an administrator than a x's and o's guy...

And signing Hartline to a fat contract worthy of being a number 2 playmaker. And a whole string of UDFA and journeymen WRs without much ceiling, if any. And trading away the most talent RB on the roster, who wanted to stay. Again: arrogance, as if his scheme didn't need playmakers. Right.

It's pure arrogance -- as if in the NFL you can continually scheme lesser talent to where it doesn't matter.

Continual failure of high draft picks, continual non-investment in playmaker positions, and you have a system that fails on any given play in enough number of parts that the plays are continually compromised.

For a team that talks about *consistently* as if it is a god, it sure has not idea how to create team (system) consistency across the board: enough talent in the parts that the sum of an overwhelming number of plays is positive.

We don't have that yet -- either in the trenches or playmaker positions of offense. Only a coach that values this system success will succeed in the NFL.

Watching "a football life" about Brandon Marshall the other day, it dawned on me: we should have just traded for jay cutler instead of trading away Marshall. The 2 talked about a reunion when Marshall was still with the fins
