“If you look closely, you go on the road, play a pretty good football team, and don’t give up a touchdown where a possession didn’t start on your side of the field, that’s a good day’s work,” he said. “And they played hard to the end. So there were things to build on.”
Defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle was most pleased that both of Starks’ sacks came on plays that weren’t obvious passing downs, where he had to think run first and then go after the quarterback. This season Starks (6-foot-3, 305 pounds) is playing on the inside rather than as an end.
“He showed some real spark as an inside pass rusher in normal down-and-distance,” Coyle said. “(And) he was very, very strong at the point of attack.”
