Early Morning Lag

Why does the website,specifically the message board, lag so much in the early morning hours? Starting at about 12 AM Pacific time I cant post anything on occasion. The later it gets the more likely the site with freeze and not load a page or not submit my posts. Is this just me or is it other people too?

I've noticed this as well. It starts around 4am EST for me.

The reason it gets slow at that time each night is because that's when we perform all our backups. The files we backup are enormous. And the function itself is a resource hog.

But rest assured, it won't be this way for much longer. :evil:
