[FONT=verdana,sans-serif]His DEI contract is up at the end of the year, and negotiations have been tense since Teresa Earnhardt seemingly questioned his commitment to the team in a December interview. [/FONT]
[FONT=verdana,sans-serif]"The main factor is the ownership part," Earnhardt Jr. said Thursday at NASCAR's annual preseason media day at Daytona International Speedway. "It has nothing to do with money and nothing else really. ... My father has been gone for five, six years now. I want majority ownership. That's basically it." [/FONT]

I dont know much about the situation, but does he get along with his stepmother?? It seems weird to be negotating against your parent

Eh, kinda. They've butted heads a few times, and Junior has admitted as much.

They'll work this out, though. My guess is that they'll hand him a certain percentage (say 25%) of DEI in his next contract, with the ability to buy another 26% (or whatever gets him to 51%) over the next few years. I doubt Teresa's just going to hand over 51% of the company and say "here ya go, best of luck!"
 
Im all for Earnhardt Jr. He is the face of not only DEI but of NASCAR. If DEI doesnt give him majority stakes they will be a bottom feeder team. For him its more about the meaning of the company because of his father then it is the money. It will hurt DEI more if they dont give him majority stakes.
 
Teresa sounds like a biotch to me.....what did she do to keep the company and race team going....NOTHING. Little E is the one who brings thousands of fans to the track. Other than being married to Dale Senior, Teresa did little else. Little E drives the car and he should be able to buy control of the company.
 
ya Jr will either get the chance to buy 51 percent or shell give him some and he can buy some but he will have the majority stake come next year. DEI isnt anything without JR bc he will take all the sponsors with him.
