Can someone enlighten me the main differences between the 2 and how different they are?

Thanks

West Coast offense is a pass first offense consisting of a lot of short routes, (WR slants, RB Flares etc). The theory is you set the Defense up to expect the pass and then establish your rushing game.

It is called the West Coast offense because the main developer of the style was Bill Walsh and his 49ers team of the 1980s.

I didnt know there was an East Coast offense. Is this anything like the rap wars?

Hello mate,

West Coast is lots of screen passes, slants, RB flares - basically passes with little risk involved. Chad Pennington ran it whilst at the Jets. As he has a weak arm and his long passes tend to sail, this is what you can expect from the fins in '08, coupled with a power running game. It's difficult to execute though as 3-4 defensive linebackers are so athletic these days, but when the Bill Walsh invented it, most defenses used a 4-3 with huge linebackers.
