Everything I'm reading has him skipping volunteery workouts because he expects to be released in that crowded QB situation Tampa has with Bruce Gradkowski, Brian Griese, Jake Plummer, Jeff Garcia, Luke McCown, and himself.

I've also read alot of rumors that have the possiblity that he may get signed in Miami if released to play for Parcells who once coached his dad to a Super Bowl. I know thats mostly just reporters connecting some dots for a story, but do you think that would be a good fit?

Because in my opinion I think that would be a solid pickup. It's obvious at this point in time Simms is not a starter in this league but he is still young with a good amount of experience and if we add him we would have a very capable backup between Simms and McCown, who ever wins that #2 spot. Assuming Beck is the starting QB of course, as he should be.

Just wanted to get everyones take on the matter.

Yes, we should....but most of the people that will answer this thread will say no he sucks.

Simms IMO is a decent QB and still young, toughness is an understatement (finishing a game with a ruptured spleen, Yikes!)

actually I agree, he is a fairly solid QB that would give us a little something to fall back on at the number 2 spot...however I am hoping that beck will get the job done himself, I believe he can

I wouldn't say anything is obvious. I would not mind taking a look at Simms but to be truthful we need a young Qb to develop so I think as we stand it would make sense to draft one. We dont need three qb's like the same age.
I dont know why anyone assumes that Beck can beat out McCown who has actually won a starting job in the NFL.

I dont think we should and heres why:

It's not that he sucks, because I have always liked the guy and wished we would have drafted him. He is tough, but I dont think he'll ever be the same after that Carolina game. He got the snot kicked out of him, and after that beating, I think he is going to be very skiddish.

You're gonna see alot of needless Int's and poorly thrown balls from Simms untill he works out the lingering demons from that game.

Besides, he's a lefty. That flipflops alot of things on the offense. And if you think some of the guys on our team have trouble catching the ball now, just wait untill they are having to catch a ball that is spiraling the opposite direction of what they are used to.

Simms is an ok QB and we could use him. Now what about Phil he hates the Fins !!! Bring him on over let him compete at qb. Save us a pick in the draft that we might us and we can get another player.

The more I think about it the only thing that makes sense to fill our roster spot is a draft pick at Qb. I dont think we are looking to add another arm, I think they want to draft a potential starter no later than 4th round. I doubt they want to bet all thier chips on any qb on our roster at this point.

The Starting Job Will Be Decided Between Beck And Henne. You Know Its True People!

Dude, Henne is terrible and its obvious your just a Michigan fan.

John Beck is the future, just give him a solid offensive line and some weapons (which he had neither of last season) and he'll make believer's out of every last one of you.

Henne is far from terrible. He is a very good prospect.

see if you can find the pattern here:

Chad Henne:
2004: 240 completions, 2743 yards, 25 td's
2005: 223 completions, 2526 yards, 23 td's
2006: 203 completions, 2508 yards, 22 td's
2007: 162 completions, 1938 yards, 17 td's

give up?

Every one has gone down every year!
Plus I think most of his hype is just because he is a QB from a big program.

Henne is not terrible and I see Beck only as a solid backup not a starter. Since I'm only a fan I can only hope, like the rest of us, that the player I think they need gets drafted. However, Bill Parcells has a good track record when it comes to finding good QB's so I think whomever gets chosen will do well.
