I didn't watch Eiland as much as I wanted to, but I thought he did ok, and the call on him was questionable as was the call on Madison. I think he actually has potential.

He made one nice play and several boneheaded ones. I'm not sure he'll stick.

And this differs from the rest of the team, how?

Seriously though, there were some good things I saw last night.

He was horrible last night...as was the secondary in general. Its still early though.

It was really sad. The first play I noticed him was a brilliant breakup of a pass, and I made a special point of catching his name. I thought for sure this would lead to a catchy "No man is an Eiland" headline eventually. So I kept an eye for him.

From there on out, it wasn't pretty.

The flag on him was B.S.

He had a slightly below par game. One thing I noticed is our defense looked fairly complex last night. Lots of blitzes, zone coverage, and stunts. I assume Saban is showing only a small bit of the grand scheme as well. So I figure rookies are going to have alot of trouble on defense.

Yeah, it was kinda hard to watch anyone closely with Madden YAMMERING ON. God I hope things change when MNF goes to ESPN, even though ESPN sucks also.

Did you catch his bit about the massager?! What the hell was that about?! It isn't even like it was some amazing thing, has Madden not seen one of those before. Damn that guy is stupid...

I figure EVERYONE is going to have trouble with this defense. It's going to take a ton of repititions before they get to the point where they're just playing rather than thinking too much.

From the looks of the defense at times last night, I think "a ton" is an understatement. :p

There were countless times when guys were out of position deep. We just can't give up big plays like that.
