It's an old saying the defense wins championships.
Well his year, arguably the 4 best QB's n the NFL this year are in the conference championship games.
This year Matt Ryan has taken the next step to join, Brady, Rogers and Rothlesberger as the top QB's in the NFL.
Matt Ryan has been a good QB, but has taken the next step to elite this year IMO.
Can Ryan Tannihill take the next step?

four damn good o lines too

o lines that have been healthy all year/are healthy at the right time

Also 4 top o-lines and 4 great coaching staffs.

Packers are the only team w/ a suspect defense, but what Aaron Rodgers does I hope everyone is relishing in watching one of the most gifted QB's to play the game.

All in all I expect to see the two best defenses emerge from the championship games, NE & Atlanta.

Good point. I think there are four guys in the NFL who are consistently elite quarterbacks ----- Rogers, Brady, Big Ben and Brees. Then there are quarterbacks who have elite years. Ryan has had an elite year, Newton had an elite year last season. Hopefully, Tannehill can be that guy who has a few elite years.

Pittsburgh's offensive line is pretty amazing, holding up rushers while Bell surveys the field and picks his best spots. Thought Miami's defense was bad. Well, he did the same thing against Kansas City.

Rodgers is just in a league all by himself. He's the complete package. Biggest play in that game was him holding on to the football when he got blindsided by the Cowboys DE. He has all the improvistional skills, he is the best thrower of the football and his knowledge behind center and what is requried inside the moment is just top level stuff.

Tannehill took positive steps this season that should make non believers realize there is a chance that he can be the Miami Dolphins QB and be behind center in a game the magnitude of the games we will see next week. He'll need the great offensive line, and the coaching and the running game and at least an average defense . . . . but I am of the belief that those things coincide with each other. Great QB play can open up the holes in the running game, and make the offensive line play better and give the defense added confidence, etc. It's not just a one way street. We just had a rash of injuries all over to even see it all come to fruition . . . but a lot of positive signs in year 1 of the Gase era.

Tannehill is NOT elite...Tannehill = Alex Smith = Andy Dalton = Matt Stafford = Any other mid level QB

Mid tier talent. Give Tannehill great Defense and Great running game...and not to mention GREAT offensive line...Then he will get us to the playoffs..maybe even win a playoff game...But with out ELITE run game, ELITE Defense and ELITE offensive line...no Super Bowl for us :(

where was matt ryan the last few years in this discussion?

he was the choke artist or the good not great qb...this year he has protection and julio jones healthy as can be, a badass two headed monster in the backfield....let's not just fall for the elite qbs only narrative

where are the two elite qbs from the superbowl last year?

and rothlesburger is a great qb no doubt, but is he really elite? leveon bell is elite...antonio brown is elite...those things I know....

it's fun and easy to lazer in on the playoffs every year as an elite qb club...but it's not that simple. and when we get there with tannehill, they will find a new narrative to fit their preconceived notions of why a team gets to the playoffs...

brady and rodgers are both elite, by the way. rodgers is a freaking animal.

Rodgers and Brady are generational talents. No other QBs come close to them. Tannehill will never be in their level. It isn't his fault but it's just not something any of the other QBs can be.

And last season people were wondering if Rodgers was still in that conversation while Ryan was going through one of the worst seasons of his career..... They're all fantastic talents but even the greats look pretty average when the supporting staff is struggling.

Aaron Rodgers was absolutely the argument for #QBWinz this weekend. Matt Ryan was excellent, too.

Ben and Brady played below what they're accustomed to. Steelers defense really picked it up last night.

I get sick watching rodgers play. I wonder what Ronnie brown is up to these days!!sigh

There is always an exception to the rule and he has always been it. His performance in the playoffs on the way to the Packers SB XLV championship was amazing to say the least. Especially when taking into consideration the vast amount of injuries GB had that year. One of the NFL's best QB's ever, easily.
