Ellerbe done for the year...

i've looked at some of those mike lb options...aj johnson is the 1st round athlete im not sure if he's the instincts...kendrich is interesting for sure...perryman played well when i saw him in the opener...pullard is horrid in coverage before he got kicked out of the game saturday...i was lol watching him try to cover vs stanford...man zone it didnt matter...ucfs got a good looking lb but he looks 2 down to me

of the options i'd say kendricks johnson and perryman with me leaning kendricks way are the front runners...i need to see more of all though...i am all in on finding a mike in 2015 that can play

if mccains gonna play every down he's gonna have to get much better off the los...it's possible but right now they are using him for what his best fit is...attacking at the los...unleash the athlete

Not putting a 1st grade on Perryman, I think the young LB's have a lot of promise to reach on a two down LB.

Looking at the 2015 possible FA list, don't see many solid names.

I'm going to try to watch some Tennessee games tog et a better feel for Johnson....I like his size and he's got decent athleticism...

I would take Perryman in a heartbeat but not in the first 2 rounds. Kid can play though and he's better in coverage than people think.

I think the rotation is starting to take shape...

WLB: Jenkins
MLB: Misi, Trusnik, Shepherd, Tripp
SLB: Wheeler, McCain, Freeny

Jenkins is going to be getting ALOT of play. If Misi is out I expect Trusnik to be inserted as he was yesterday, Tripp will really have to show a lot in practice to get a look anytime soon. McCain will get sprinkled in more and more as mostly a pass rush specialist. I'm excited about what Jenkins can do, we need a solid coverage LBer and we might just have one. Don't really know who are backup WILL is, McCain could be the top backup at both, he offers that position flexibility.

If we can land Perryman with a 2nd, I'd pull the trigger. All this, first round talent talk, the kid is good but VERY limited in pass coverage and it showed against Louville.

played a lot of zone in that game...didnt look bad...his problem is he's not a good enough athlete...his hips in deep zone drop and when firing forward and carrying man coverage are a problem also...his read and diag looks pretty sound though...more 50-75 grade i'd say unless the class is a poor one...

Perryman is a terror against the run but as mentioned possible liability in coverage at just 5'11". He's more a down hill guy.

I thought the general consensus around here was Ellerbe wasn't any good anyway?
I think that is the thought re Wheeler. I'm not convinced that Ellerbe was bad, just ridiculously overpaid by Ireland and in need of a good haircut.

And probably playing out of position last year and having to make the defensive calls instead of just playing balls to the wall.

Before getting hurt Tripp was already replacing different LB's with the ones. And he really stood out for stretches at a time in preseason, he was always around the play like you would expect from a really good, instinctive LB.

I'm ok playing the young guys. They did pretty good yesterday but this might hurt the special teams. You need your back ups playing ST so I hope those guys will not hurt the cover teams

Right now this class doesn't look all that promising.

That sucks. One of my Dawgphins is down for the count. Ellerbe is good when in there but it isn't his fault that he got the contract he signed. Is he worth that money? No. Is he as bad as some on here act? No.

Fact is we just lost a veteran leader who is now replaced by a guy who is also important on special teams. So now we have 2 holes that need to be filled. (cue, that's what she said...)
