Elway said Tuesday he was disappointed the Broncos didn't display "more fire" against the underdog Colts, especially coming off a bye.

Wow. Must be nice to have a GM that is not only a winner......but is truly in charge. Also listen to his recipe for winning:

After spending $60 million in guarantees to bolster Denver's defense last year, Elway said he'll address his O-line this offseason.

"Having been a quarterback, he knows that I'm going to try to take care of him and that offensive line," Elway said. "We always want to protect the quarterback. I think a change in scenery for those guys might help them also and we'll do what we can do this offseason and try to help that also."

That's the attitude that keeps them in the post season every year. What does Dan Marino do again?

Yeah we will see having manning as your qb will make a lot of players seem better than they are.

What keeps them competitivevright nowis Manning . Let's not get it twisted. When Manning goes we'll talk about how great they are.

Ole horse face wont look so good if Manning calls it quits...

I think we are going to eventually find out that Elway is a egomanic. Broncos had some issues but I don't think John Fox was one of them. I think Elway pretty much has to hire Gase at this point if he wants Manning to come back, or he could be facing Brock Osweiler as the starting QB with an inferior HC.

Just stop.
These situations aren't the least bit comparable.

Elway has been ignoring building through the draft(pretty pedestrian since the departure of Xanders) and spending like a drunken sailor on win now vets.

Lets see how good they are next year once Manning leaves before anointing him Executive of the Century

Concur.

Passion/emotion only take you so far and when they go... it gets ugly.

By all means Mr Ed (John) go get someone like Dick Vermeil or Tony Sparano to succeed Fox.

p.s. Like others from the Mtn time on this site, it will be great to see the donkeys tumble when Manning retires.

I thought Denver underachieved big time with Manning and horseteeth...not impressed.

I loved Elway's presser yesterday. I wish I heard motivation like that in Davie.

Here's the deal. while I agree Elway isn't the best thing since sliced bread I would take a GM that recognizes when something isn't working and tries to fix it rather then wait out season after season. Then again we don't even have a GM that's ALLOWED to fix what's not working season after season.
And Our Oline hasn't worked for years or been addressed properly since we drafted Long wayyyyy back. James was solid but too little wayyy to late. I still think its amazing that Tannehill managed to accomplish 8000 yds in the last two seasons. Teams like the Broncos will pay Tanny HUGE $$$$ if he doesn't resign. Our Future is anything but secure. Its an aimless ship with no one at the helm. No one with any Vision. Say what you want about Elway......they have a future planned out and a captain at least trying to steer his ship towards it. Captain Francesco Schettino of the Costa Concordia did a better job steering that ship then this front office the last three seasons. (w/ the exception of Dennis Hickey) Got to give credit where its due.

GMs should absolutely fix things, but rebuilding the transmission when you have a flat tire isnt the right way to go about it. I think Elway made a mistake. That Broncos defense - John Fox's specialty - played good enough to win against one of the best offenses in the NFL. The Broncos offense is what failed them last weekend. I'd put that on Manning and Gase before I put it on Fox. Its pretty well know that Fox is hands off on offense and its Manning and Gase running that show.

I have to agree with you on this one, Both Broncos losses in Super Bowl last year and against Indy this year can be laid on the offense. It this same old theme of teams scoring 1 TD on offense and then blaming the defense when they don't win.

Which is why I dont understand why Adam Gase is getting all this attention.

Think they will show more fire next season? Absolutely. Our Team gets extensions when they screw up. Its a problem . Owners really need to be hands off in the Football department. They do not understand the mentality needed to play and win at this level. That's why Ross spends money on Celebrity owners and nightclubs . We are going in the direction of the Raiders and Al Davis. While Ross doesn't run the draft or football operations directly, he still requires full approval of things he has no idea about. Then he hires more people to help him with the decision making of the approval needed of decision others have made. Its a joke. WTF does Marino do anyways? Jimmy Johnson used to be into everything. He made all command decisions. he was God. Same with Don Shula. I get that the NFL has become more challenging and sometimes delegation can be a wise move as well. But what we have now with tannabum and Hickey and Philbin and Marino and Aponte and..........???? WTF? When does the madness end? Lets get a person in charge and commit already. Hickey seems to be the only one with a clue. Ellway certain has a vision. I respect that. All we have now is a crappy new logo and a bunch of Yes men. we are doomed under this current admin and owner unless something changes.
