Elway's 1st SB ring tainted?: Broncos lose 3rd Rnd Pick 4 SalaryCap tampering in 90's

I doubt this is Elway's fault. The guy deserved a ring as much as our man Dan did. I'm glad he got it, and wish Dan would have.

Yeah, but for some reason, "In addition to the penalties against the team, the NFL said an agent for a former player agreed to donate $100,000 to charity. Neither the agent nor the player was identified. " just struck me as this being Elway doing the donating....

Perhaps......

Does this really shock you? From Kennedy's cheap shot on Chambers (and others) to the OL play to this, the Broncos have to be the dirtiest team in the NFL.
It was not a cheap shot. It was in the course of a play and in the middle of the action.

He led with the helmet. He had a history of leading with the helmet.

You know, chop blocks are also in the course of play and in the middle of the action. They're also cheap.

Denver got off easy! 950G and loss of next years 3rd rounder. I think that they should have lost all of next years draft. They won 2 super bowls playing with an unfair advantage over all of the other teams. What would have happened if they played by the rules and didn't cheat?

I agree completely. If this were a single event I can agree with the punishment. But this involved several players over a 3 year period during which the Broncos won back to back superbowls. Other NFL teams will get the message from this slap on the wrist...let the cheating begin. :(

Elway is a hall of fame QB but the rings will be tainted because of the cheating which he may not have even been involved with.

Sorry, but I do not see the comparison between the two. Chop blocks are not heat of the moment moves 99% of the time. Its a designed block, which has been calculated. That is a cheap shot.

As for leading with your helmet. Tell me one time a defenders head does not reach the ball carrier before his body does? Seen many helmet to helmet collisions that did not draw a fine/suspension because of the situation on the field. Like a running back hitting a linebacker. It happens every game.

Chambers was in motions, in the air and descending. Kennedy was there for the hit. He went up to seperate the ball from Chambers and ended up hitting him in the head. I see nothing dirty or cheap about it. Just a play that ended up badly for Chamber.

Also you will see that on NFL greatest hits DVD one day. Damn hypocrites.

Ok, I'll give you a lot of players do it on boths sides of the ball.
But in this case I think he tried to hurt Chambers.
Either way, they are dirty. I don't mind a little extra shot here and there, but don't try to injure players. Like Marino's fake clock stop. Dirty but nobody left on a strecher.

I do not believe he was actually trying to hurt Chambers as much as he was trying to establish doubt in his mind for the rest of the game. More or less.

Do not come over the middle.

It ended badly, but I do not believe malice was involved.

Have you played football? There is malice there, trust me.

(If anybody wonders why I dropped out, it is because I knew after I advanced my last argument that we were going to enter this territory where we basically argue Kennedy's intent for pages. I got quite enough of that in Criminal Law.)

Yes, I have. Just because someone wants to lay a hard hit and ring someones bell, does not mean they want to injure the other player and have him carried off the field on a stretcher. Football is about strength. However I really doubt you will find any player who simply wants to put another player in the hospital.

I can't help but think that these comments that Elway's rings are tainted come from a little bitterness that Dan didn't get any rings.

Yes, no?
