From Ethan's blog; Emmit Smith on the Dolphins' prospects in the near future:
"They have some talent," Smith said. "Defensively, they play well. Offensively, Daunte Culpepper, if he comes back and bounces back and does what I think he is capable of doing, he can accelerate the curve. You have a great running back in Ronnie Brown. Probably need to upgrade that offensive line a little bit to create some running lanes. And give Daunte some protection. It all starts for me offensively with an offensive line. With no offensive line, you can't run, you can't pass, because the quarterback is going to be on his back most of the time anyway. I think the Dolphins, they may be three or four drafts away."

I bet he said the same thing about the Saints last year.

Typical members of the media having no accountability for what they say. Drives me nuts when they can make pretty substantial statements, could very well be proven wrong, and never have to acknowledge how wrong they were.
 
What did he think of the Saints before last season? They had the second overall pick and went to the NFC title game. There are alot of teams that are close. I agree with him, but we are not that far away
 
As I said in the VIP room, I personally don't give a damn what this guy says. So he's played in the NFL and was great. It doesn't mean he knows what we will or won't do. None of these "experts" know.

Let him think we're 3-4 drafts away. I disagree with him. The world goes on
 
Maybe he meant 3 or 4 good draft picks away? 3-4 drafts is 3-4 years and even the worst team in the league w/ the right moves isn't 3-4 drafts away from being really good.
 
It wouldn't surprise me, but I think we are closer to two drafts away. He's right. It starts with the offensive line. If it's no good it really doesn't matter who the QB is.
 
I can't stand this guy.

Above average back with a Hall of Fame offensive line.........and he's ******ed.

No team in the NFL is 4 years away from being a winner nowadays.

Guess it's a coincidence he set records in high school and college too...

But anyway, opinions are just that. It's not INSANE to believe we're three drafts away but personally I think we could contend the year after next.
 
i like how people are using the saints as an example...maybe i missed something, but they werent playing in the superbowl in february....
