I didn't get to see the game. I knew the Dolphins took over on downs near the Steelers 10 around the 2 minute warning. Not sure at all how many timeouts the Steelers had remaining.

Was there any debate about calling 3 straight runs as opposed to trying for the touchdown to make it a 2 score game?

No, I think was the right call, dawn the clock to one minute and make it a six point game. But the problem is we have no chance of ice a game on 3 runing plays, it's geting ridiculous

Again it's conservative like the call to not use a timeout at the end of first half, but you cant hate the call.

I found that penalty which put as in 1st and goal actually hurt us. Put us in a situation where we could only run 3 offensive plays. If that penalty does not happen we still have a chance to get a first down and a wider option of plays in the playbook.

I could see it both ways. I would like to see us stay aggressive and try to score a TD in that situation.....but stopping the clock with an incomplete pass if we aren't successful could have hurt us just as badly. Judgment call all the way.....I can't fault what they did.

There's going to be a debate about just about everything, but I thought the three straight runs and the field goal was the right strategy, given that the Steelers would then have the ball after a kickoff with about a minute remaining, no timeouts, and needing a touchdown.

There was no conversation about it, but I was thinking we should go for the TD, because it left enough time on the clock for Pitt to score. And the thing I was worried about is something going wrong with the kick, it getting blocked or something. Let's put it this way, if it was NE, Brady would have spread the offense out and tossed it to Gronk or ran it in. I think we should have gone for the TD.

My view is, if you have an opportunity to score, you take it. Because you never know what can happen. Especially in this weather. All you need is one Dolphin to slip in the snow and miss an assignment and you've got a WR running for a TD. We slipped many times in this game.

Sounds as though Philbin had decided not to risk turnovers due to the weather. And extending the lead from 3 to 6 is meaningful as it forces the Steelers to score a touchdown.

Force them to go the length of the field for a touchdown with 1:10 to play and no timeouts. No complaints about that strategy. Philbin played the percentages.

I like the call BC the weather was an issue if it wasn't I would like that call.

We were running well. So run. Funny, I think on the first run play if Tanny keeps it he could walk into the end zone.

It was absolutely the right call. Add to the fact that we were gashing them on the ground. It is the precise time when you could have seen three runs get you a first down. Add to that the conditions, veteran defense.
A scenario where the protection breaks down and we fumble on a blind side hit on RT was entirely plausible not to mention we had seen it before.

I would have liked to see a read option play during that series. If it works we score, and if not, Ryan just slides to keep the clock running.

Glad to hear you say it was the right call, especially with all of the questions about how Philbin handled the end of the first half (of which I also didn't get to see).

It sounds as though he just decided throughout the game not to risk turnovers in that weather.

Thomas essentially walked into the end zone earlier in the game because the Steelers' DE (or OLB) was covering Tannehill on the read-option.
