Question?

If you had to choose between five years of watching 8-8 football with an exciting team with a Dan Marino or Barry Sanders or 5 years of solid football, making the playoffs most of the time and getting beat in the first or second round, such as the Jets in the 90's which would you choose?

Not suggesting this year's team will be exciting or boring, just trying to solve a bet with a friend. Do most fans who are honest value being entertained more than wins?

In the perfect world you would have a team like the 84 Dolphins or the 06 Colts. But If you had to choose between Marino and no playoffs or Fiedler and minimal playoff success which would it be?

depends.... can we say 5 solid years of an 8-8 chargers team with phillip rivers? sure

winning and going to the playoffs is the exciting stuff... id rather get to the playoffs every year because you never know what can happen once you hit the post season...

I'd say winning and making the playoff's is the way to go. Plus you never know the cards may fall right and you find yourself in the SB. all it takes is a lucky break.

I'd rather win playoff games and Super Bowls with a bunch of no-names than be stuck in 8-8 hell with "exciting" big named LOSERS.

Football is the ultimate team game. Everyone has their part on the team, focusing on one player is completely missing the point.

Watching Marino was great but that doesn't make up for all the times we missed the playoffs.

I'd much rather have a well-rounded team with no superstars that can go all the way than one stud who helps you finish at .500.

Beyond that, I am entertained by watching most football games. Heck, the other day I put on the CFL because I needed a fix.

Yes I rather have a Pennington lead team going to the playoffs for five years than having a Henne lead team throwing bombs every game and not making the playoffs.

Winning and the playoffs.

I'll get my excitement on College Football Saturdays.

I could be off base here. But I think what the original poster is suggesting is that we make the playoffs every year and it's a given that we are unsuccessful, i.e. no Superbowl or AFC championship appearances. Or we have an exciting team but muddle in mediocrity. I don't know, but if you completely take away the probability of winning or even going to a Superbowl, I may settle for being entertained. :foundout: The whole losing in the playoffs thing, especially when you get the **** beat out of you, hurts a lot more than not making it.

I dont think you can say we go to the playoffs and not have a chance to go to the Super Bowl. On any given Sunday, an injury, a fumble, an interception or a run back can make you lose or win a game. I rather see that, which would be much more exciting, than sitting home watching the Pats or the Yets doing the same thing.
