Eric Ainge?

I was wondering what you fine folks think of Eric Ainge? I don't really hear much talk about this guy. He seems to be a pretty decent pickup in the 3rd or maybe 4th round. He has good size for the position. He seems to have had a great college career. I haven't watched any Tennessee games but they're in the toughest conference in CFB he faired well. Is there that much of a drop off between him Ryan, Brohm, or Woodson? It wouldn't hurt to take a chance on a guy like this. It can create a little competition with Beck and make him better. Parcells says he likes big players and Beck isn’t really that big for his position. I wouldn't mind taking Jake Long with the 1st pick. We then use our 2 second round picks on the best available DL and CB. Then taking Ainge somewhere soon after that. We would have the LT position filled for the next decade (hopefully). Move Carey back to a position he prefers to play and is better at. And we still use two or more first day picks shoring up the defense. Not to mention picking up a QB who might be a steal. I might be a little :bong2:, but that sounds like a good first day to me. Any thoughts?

*This of course is barring any trades between now and draft day.

I am a UF alum so I have seen Eric Ainge a few times and have been impressed. I am not an expert evaluator, but he seems to have all the tools to be a nice later round pickup for a project. I don't see him going higher than round 4, but that might not be a bad spot to take him if he is available.

do you guys think he is a derek anderson clone ? hes 6'6 and has a good arm. if not, who do u think he is most compared to? tnx

I think he is decent. Yes he has spanked my bulldogs the last two years but thats what happens when you don't pressure him at all. Put some pressure in his face and he makes some bad mistakes

So he's not a tough QB? I see he doesn't have blazing speed. Is he mobile at all or strictly a pocket passer? Im going to check out some youtube clips of this guy.

the first day of the draft is 1st and 2nd round ..............
3-7 is the 2nd day of the draft

can i get a thanks? jk lol

The second round will also change, going from 10 minutes to 7 minutes between picks. NFL teams in the past have often waited their entire allotted time between picks trying to wheel and deal and trade up and down for draft slots. So will these changes reduce the amount of trading and dealing between picks? I don't think it will, NFL teams will just have to be more prepared and be more willing and able to "pull the trigger" quicker.

Day two won't change much except obviously it will now include rounds 3 through 7 instead of 4-7. The time between picks will stay at five minutes and to make up for that extra round the start time will be moved back an hour from 11 a.m. to 10 a.m. Like last year, both days will be broadcast by the NFL Network and ESPN. This years 2008 NFL Draft will be held on April 26-27 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

With huge 24 hour coverage by the NFL Network and the draft moving to prime time and becoming more streamlined, we should see more and more football fans taking the plunge and becoming certified Draftniks. If you do become a Draftnik, don't worry, at NFL Draft Dog we have the cure, the most accurate and thorough NFL Draft coverage on the internet. Sorry folks, I couldn't resist throwing that plug in.

im myself am not a fan of ainge..being a dawgs fan i have seen him play mnay games in the sec...everttime he gets pressured he throws the ball right to the other team...he is inconsistent as well...im not big on him..if we want to spend a pick of a qb on the 3rd or 4th rd let it be chad henne from michigan

I think we should consider taking a QB in the Third...Flacco, Henne and John David Booty are probably rated ahead of Ainge. Hopefully we will take a good look at all of them during the combines.

I've watched a lot of Ainge's games...he'll drive you crazy with his inconsistency and decisions. He has a decent arm, but not what I would call a cannon, but he can make all the throws. He's strictly a pocket passer, and not much for running. Where he seems to make the most mistakes is when he has to make something happen, he's strictly a manage-the-game type qb. I think having Cutcliffe (ex-OC, now HC at Duke) this year made him look a lot better than he really is.

It's kind of funny, my girlfriend who's a Tenn. fan, thinks Ainge's a puss. As this year went along, he'd get rid of the ball whenever he thought he might get hit, sometimes way before he was going to get hit. Once, when he had to scramble, he threw the ball away with the defender coming at him, but was still 7-8 yds away from him.

Personally, I hope we don't draft him, but if we plan to, I hope it's very late.

That's what happens when you get your brains beat in almost every time you drop back to pass. Give him time and he will pick you apart.
