Eric Rowe

Was a bit of a surprise inactive this week. I know he’s been dealing with an injury but he could be an important piece with how much Baltimore uses their TEs
What I thought was odd, was that we brought McKinley up due to Rowe's absence... then didn't use him at all.

At 5'10", he's a little undersized to cover TEs though... I think he may end up being a spare CB/S.

McKinley is a FS. That’s what he played on 87% of his preseason snaps. Def not a replacement for the role Rowe plays.

He’s a spare safety but he’s kind of limited to playing high based on his physical attributes. Def never gonna be our designated TE stopper.

Need Rowe back but man Brandon Jones was a monster on the field on Sunday. He isn’t as good in coverage but he was a tackling machine as well. 11 tackles, 6 solo, one sack and a pass deflection. Makes not having Rowe easier however with premier tight ends across the field Rowe will be key.

Jones' coverage looked improved too. Maybe not top level yet (for a Safety), but coming along nicely.
We definitely have one of the better secondary rooms around.

It def looked improved. Jones has been very good against a run and as a pass rusher, but he’s been pretty bad in coverage.

Last year he allowed 22 of the 25 the targets thrown at him to be completed. He allowed an 88% completion percentage and 12.2 yards per target. He also only had one total pass defended in his first two years.

In this game he allowed 2 of his 5 targets to be completed for 22 yards (4.4 y/target), and had a pass deflection.

That means in just one game he equaled the total number of incompletions thrown in his direction that he had all last season. He also had as many passes defended as he’s had in his entire career.

He did this while playing a bit more of an actual safety role than last year. Playing 14% of his snaps on the Dline as opposed to 19%. Still a hybrid player, but that’s part of what I really like about him.

Finally, PFF gave him a coverage grade of 64.7 this game while he had at 48.6 last year.

I know it’s only one game, but Jones said he was determined to show people that he can be more than just a blitzing safety. He showed me that last game. Let’s see if he can keep showing it.

I have a sneaky suspicion you will see Mr Channing Tindall #41 get some action these next two weeks. His speed and length can help us defend.
Hope he is ready
I’m not sure Roberts has it anymore to be anything more than a backup. Just didn’t look good last game.

Tindall needs to take/earn his rightful place in this rotation bc there’s no reason he can’t already be better than Roberts.

He might be rough around the edges regarding his play rec, but Tindall in this LB corp can add another level of dynamic ability.

I understand why Ezukanma would be brought along slowly. We’re deep at his position. But I think we need to give Tindall a shot because I’m not sure we fair as well against better offenses giving 35 snaps to Elandon.

Kid was a five star recruit and the #1 rated high school safety in the country..

He's becoming a star in front of our eyes.

Not sure who exactly was responsible, but NE has two very capable pass catching TEs and they inflicted little damage.
Dolphins caught a break when Jonnu Smith got nicked up. It looked like Pats O had discovered a big mismatch advantage for them and he got hurt before they could make it a gravy train.

If memory serves- he got hit pretty good at around the 10 minute mark left in 4th qtr. I did find it odd they didn’t hit the TE more at that point.

Yes it's football players get hurt. Cry me a river over that crap.
