Wilford had his charity golf tournament up here in Jax today and was just on the local radio station. He said he loves it down there and made a comment about Chad Henne and how strong his arm is and that if he has it upstairs in his head he could be a special QB. I'll post the link to the radio station, they should have the pod cast of the interview up shortly.

what else is he going to say, i wish i was still here.. none of these qbs are 1/3 as good as david garrard? ya it's true, but don't think he's going to say it publicly, of course he is going to say how great everything is..for now... 3/4 through the season when they are 2-10 well who knows.. maybe...

I understand your idea of players just "saying the right things" but he was complimenting the rookie QB into detail. If he didn't really feel that way I don't think he would have made it all up just to be "saying the right things." He would have just kept it short.

And David Garrard is a hell of a QB but it took him awhile to get there. Not trying to take anything away from him, just saying that Beck and Henne could both end up being just as good as him. Just comparing their college days will show you that.

Actually, a lot of players rarely mention about a QB "having it upstairs". Its kind of putting pressure on a rookie so I think what Wilford said is pretty much straight talk. And Wilford gets to start and has a chance to become more of a playmaker in this offense so he is excited. I am excited for him and us. I think he could make a big difference in getting us into the endzone.

he's a big, slow possession receiver. he never has been or will be a "playmaker' and this will be the same type of offense in jacksonville.. except without the talent, nothing is going to change. he will have another 40 catch 600 yd season...

You mean like Chris Chambers?

If the big guy gets 10 TD's, then I dont care about a 600 yard season. It means we score points. Chris Chambers was not fast either. And yes, we will be a run first team with power to wear down teams in the hot florida sun, which is what any offense down here should be like. Think Csonka, Kick, Mercury.

Who pissed in your corn flakes dude?

I think Ernest Wilford is going to be the type of WR this offense needs to help it out.

His stats might not be great, but it's because we're not going to be a big time passing team. We're going to spread it around to Ginn, Wilford, Fasano, Brown, and Williams. When you have a lot of options like that when you don't throw the ball a whole lot, you won't see big WR type numbers.

The big thing I expect from Wilford is his presence in the red zone and on 3rd down. I think that's where he'll help the offense be more successful. He was a really good signing that isn't heralded very highly among the media.

this wr played in a power running offense. although his stats don't reveal it, dude makes big plays at times they are needed. Think Oronde Gadsen. if you werent a dolphin fan or afc east team fan you probably never heard of the dude.... Big slow reciever that just made plays but his stats wouldn't show you that.

A tad early for such a ridiculous statement don't you think?

One or more of these QB's may end up being far greater than David Garrard.

miami doesnt have a good young possession receiver. so its a great thing we have him. Also did i mention he is a GREAT run blocker, which as we all know isnt a common trait in WR.
