Not only does Rick Spielman do guest annalist spots but he is writing a column for the insider. How can you be a failure at everything you do and then explain to the world about the game of football. "Holydiddlypoo"

An 0-2 start isn't the end of the world

Opening an NFL season 0-2 does not automatically mean all hope is lost and the season is as good as over. Remember, the season is a marathon, not a sprint, and Week 2 is way too early to give up on making the playoffs. Over the last five years, there have been some success stories with teams that started out 0-2. Coaches, players and front offices have put too much time and effort into the offseason to give up after a slow start, and the league's roster and salary-cap rules make it nearly impossible for a team to make wholesale changes in-season. Teams might adjust their starting lineup, pick up street free agents to replace injured players or possibly turn over the bottom end of the roster and practice squads.

sounds like last year......

How in the World do they rank San Diego in the upper 1/3(?) with an 0-2 record. I'm not campaigning for us to be ranked higher, but come on!!

Just because he did a crappy job as GM doesn't mean that he doesn't know football, and, more importantly, have ins to just about every executive in the NFL.

Yes, it's not the end of the world, it just gives you reason to trade high draft picks for players on other teams bubble!

Let me give you another example. Exactly what did Sean Salisbury do to make him such an expert on football. He is everywhere on ESPN. He held a freakin clip board! He wasnt a coach, or assistant coach or even a coordinator. He was a hack qb with as much insight into football as your average drunk in any sportsbar USA>

Average drunks now better then most NFL analysists.

Wait, ESPN has integrity?? come on, they are ok as a sports network but could do oh so much more.

Wondering the same thing.

There are some folks on this forum who just can't stand the guy. They will marginalize his successes and magnify his failures.

You know you guy's are way too biased when it comes to the ESPN crew. Most of the "experts" are x players or coaches or the likes. The beautiful thing about it, is yeh they say some dumb things sometimes or some things we don't always agree on, but they usually have something to go by they dont just pull stuff out of their anuses...(except maybe Saulisbery)

Sean actually started a couple of years in SD and IMO....I didnt think he was that bad he took them to the playoffs. And to be a qb you pretty much have to know alot about football. It's one of the only positions that you pretty much have to study both sides of the ball.
