This is not in defense of Richie, other than him being scapegoated and skewered with righteous indignation by the ratcheted up moral indignation of this network's talking jackals - their shaky soapboxes built on their own histories of severe drug abuse to the detriment of their teams, being kicked off their teams as a locker room cancer, complicity in a suspected murder and initial refusal to serve justice by snitching, falsifying reporting without even talking to the NE players and the like. (Kuddos to Ditka for declaring that Joni should grow up and get back to work). And then there's the praising of Kraft and Belicheat for suspending Hernandez as soon as there was an indictment despite the voluminous evidence, mostly researched by Rolling Stone that they were well aware of his thuggery, drug abuse and peer group pressures long before Lloyd, and maybe could have prevented that murder, if not 2 the previous year by being more pro active.

Well how about including their own analyst Hugh Douglas who used the "N word" not the N-a" word, calling Michael Smith a "house N-word" whom they quietly fired without I believe any reportage, let alone commentary on what a disgrace he was for using it on anyone, especially a respected black man and peer. And where were they in September when he was taken away in handcuffs for "strangulation and assault" of his GF. Was even a sentence mentioned of that? Here you have racially-incendiary use of an awful word representing some of the worst history of this country, and you have sexual abuse and physical violence against a woman. Where's the condemnation? Where's the mea culpa of "we hired and gave plenty of face time on a number of our shows to someone who turned out to be a racist and woman batterer - for that we're sorry." Or is it reserved for an easy whipping boy who responded in kind to one of Joni's 1100 texts to him that declared he'd be killing his whole ****ing family?
Today I heard JJ declare that while the use of that word is abhorrent, this whole thing is being overblown and that this type of alpha behavior occurs in most every locker room. Ditka and Favre have more or less said the same thing directly or more diplomatically. As I've said elsewhere, the only difference IMO between the Fins locker room and the rest of the league's is a sensitive, mentally-unhinged and suicidal, possibly drug-addled sensitive mama's boy - and most of the other teams and their alpha male players were and are thinking "there but for the grace of god go I"
