For what is's worth, Clayton was on Mike & Mike in the morning stating the following:

1. Marty might be fired tomorrow (does not think they'll get to it today) and Phins could grab him.
2. Miami found out they have a great coaching staff and that is why they signed very good DC and OC (I was wondering if Mularkey was replaced when he stated that - but they did not mention names).
3. Miami tried to go for the Home Run with Carrol and big names but when that did not succeed then the decision was to keep the coaching talent and find a head coach that can manage that talent. Presumably that is why they're looking at people with past HC experience like Mora, Gailey, Marty.
4. Clayton thought the process to keep the current coaching and look for a HC was a reasonable one.

Heard it on the Radio, therefore no link.

I guess I can buy into that approach...

But I would like to see Garrett get the OC position.

Despite popular opinion here, Mularkey is respected around the league. Maybe if he didn't constantly have the talent to work he has, he could succeed. You can't deny that, Harrington, Lemon, Losman, and Holcomb are not the same kind of talents as Palmer, Manning, McNabb, Brees and so on. I love the way fans here expect the same results from backups as they do probowlers. I'm not saying MM is anything special, but until he gets the kind of talent above to work with, I don't think it's fair to balme him for the results.

I agree with that and it might be the case considering they've not allowed him an interview with the Browns offering the OC position to him.

Garrett as OC would lessen my worries of Gailey coming in as long as Gailey lets him do his thing and dosen't entirely force his conservative straightforward approach on him.

He makes boneheaded calls.
He's done that everywhere he's been.
This is nothing new.
Garrett for OC is the best route IMO.

It was on the ESPN2 as well.

Don't tell that to the folks here man. They think Mularkey is the devil

So you're saying if MM had Manning or McNabb as his QB he would still get the same results? I seriously doubt it.

Agreed. My problem with Mularkey is that his play calling was horrendous, and he didn't do a very good job of putting the players in the best position for them to succeed. That to me are two very important qualities to have in an OC. I would like to see Garrett be promoted as well.

Yeah, it makes you wonder what sport they're watching. I guess using their logic, my grandmother would succeed in the NFL with a good OC. Basically, teams only fail due to coaching.

Last I checked Manning & McNabb are not on the Dolphins.

MM = death.

Having to choose between Gailey or Mora is like having to choose between death by firing squad or death by hanging.

This is so depressing.

So the players executing the plays aren't responsible for anything?? Remember the Ronnie 2pt conversion attempt in Houston?? Could Ronnie have run the ball into the endzone on that play?? He didn't have to throw the ball. Keep in mind, it's called an option play for a reason.

If he had Manning and all those weapons, yes I still believe he'd be calling double reverse statue of liberty plays on the 5 yard line.

That's his problem, not players.
He tends to get way too tricky for his own good.
By tricky I mean using gimmick's. I'm not talking creativity which is a very good thing.
