In fact, I still think they win the AFC East and challenge for home field throughout the playoffs.
I'll remind you of this when the 'Phins win the East, Theory...
I honestly believe the 'Phins will overtake the Patsies this year. The Patriots are not as good as they were last year and if the 'Phins had started winning earlier in the year, they could've taken the East last year...
The Patriots have lost key players. The Patriots
do still have Belichick, but Saban knows Belichick as well as anyone in the league. ...and the Patriots
do still have Brady... but the 'Phins don't have second-string QB's playing dress-up any longer... We haven't matched up this well with the Pats in years...
As az mentioned, the Vinatieri loss is HUGE. The Pats no longer have
the clutch kicker in the league. (Yes,
the is bolded for a reason...)
The Pats' running game is unproven. Dillon may not ever get back to his full potential and Maroney may not be able to shoulder the full load in his first season... (In fact, I would say he probably won't be able to...)
A single coach and a QB do not a team make... and there are just enough question marks for the Patriots to make me believe the 'Phins will take the East. They're not going to sweep the Pats, (Wouldn't that be sweet, though...) but they will take the East... Mark my words...
