"You got a Pro Bowl player, asking to play," Porter said Tuesday afternoon during a long interview with Miami sports radio station WQAM. Porter sat down on Radio Row in the Super Bowl media center. "If you let us just fight for the job, it's not even an argument. No shots to nobody, but it's not even an argument.

"All them guys in my room, love them to death, but at outside linebacker, I'm the best one we got, period. There's nothing to even talk about. Who am I switching with? Why should I be switching out with any of them guys?"

He later said "If you want to put Cameron Wake in the game, go ahead and good luck to you. Let me go find a new job somewhere."

Stupid. The guy is old, he needs a break and Wake is up and coming and was just plain better then Porter while he was in there. He's such a baby.

Sounds like a great leader....someone that can help a new team with their young guys.

Agreed... it's all about his frickin ego

Things like this is why he was being kept out of captains meetings...

Simple question....

Ok Joey under your current theory, when you started your career if the guys that had been there before you used that same "selfish" mentality, and your young butt never got to play, how would you feel????

Hold onto him until the latest possible time so he suffers when trying to get up to speed with another team. The guy is an ******* and a baby.........waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Joey waaaaaaaaa!

we will get no trade value at this point. time to play passive aggressive.

I'm pissed that Porter took away snaps from Cameron Wake. Thanks for playing for us Joey; you had a great 3/4 of year in 2008 but the rest of the time you were a non factor. Now go join the Raiders!

This is the issue with Channing 'MIA in every game' Crowder as well.

Porter's situation is kind of understandable, but I really don't understand why they gave Crowder an extention.

He is a guy who spends WAY too much mental energy trying to be funny to the peanut brains with the local sports media. He should have been reprimanded in that Pats game 2 seasons ago when he spent the whole game insulting Light's wife and then ran like a little girl when Light was fed up with his idi0tic nonsense.

Cameron Wake is better than Porter at every aspect of the game including pass rush. Porter hasn't done jack in years but run the locker-room chants

I wonder how this guy was voted as a Captain. Maybe there is more to it that we don't know, but part of being a TEAM leader is to help the young guys get better. I realize that Joey has a job to keep, but if he is as good as he believes he is, then he shouldn't be worried.

I imagine that there was an exchange similar to this one:

Wake (as he runs onto the field): Sorry Peezy, but Coach wants you out and me in on this passing situation. Go take a breather.

Porter: F*** you rook, Peezy don't leave the field for NO ONE. Go tell JT to get his a** off the field. Oh, he's already on the sideline. Well then tell Anderson to get his a** off the field. And tell Coach, whatever his name is, that Captain Peezy is in charge of all defensive substitutions from now on.

A person with narcissistic personality disorder:

  • Reacts to criticism with rage, shame, or humiliation
  • Takes advantage of other people to achieve his or her own goals
  • Has feelings of self-importance
  • Exaggerates achievements and talents
  • Is preoccupied with fantasies of success, power, beauty, intelligence, or ideal love
  • Has unreasonable expectations of favorable treatment
  • Requires constant attention and admiration
  • Disregards the feelings of others, lacks empathy
  • Has obsessive self-interest
  • Pursues mainly selfish goals

I think it might be time to ship Porter to a team that can best utilize his skills. Say like the Rams or the Raiders or the Lions. Let him be a starter on a struggling franchise and see how his great leadership goes there.

Geez there are guys on this board who resent Wake - big deal the guy can play a crucial role on 2nd and third and long situations
