Here's an article where Joey Porter is upset that everyone is already crowning the Patriots as the 2009 AFC East Champs?

I really think our team is going to play with a chip on their shoulder due to all of the naysayers and writers out there who think last year was a fluke. It is really beginning to show how all of the negative press is getting these guys fired up to defend their title.

If I was the coaching staff I would have a locker room wall filled with all of the articles saying the Dolphins were a fluke last year and there is no way they will return to the playoffs.

I always enjoy the commets at the bottom of the page after every article posted. Everyone always has something to say

The Pats should be a heavy favorite. We were lucky, not good.

And if I'm Tony The Tiger, I tell my players the same thing. Then we play, and I hear Dolphing "GROWLING." :)

We did have a lot of good breaks, but I think we played well. Many teams are fortunate with soft schedules and low injury rates, but only a few of these lucky teams take advantage of the good breaks. I agree with Porter that teams have to beat us before they say we are out of the race. Any way you cut it, we are the defending division champs.

I just don't know why everyone thinks the Pats should be a heavy favorite. Sure, Brady is back, but no one knows how is knee is actually doing. All we hear from New England is that he is twice as far ahead of schedule and that his knee is fine. Well, I remember at the end of the season how Brady had a staph infection and they were worried he might not play this year. Also look at how Manning came back last year after having a staph infection, he wasn't his normal self until week 6. I think the front office is feeding us a steaming pile of sh*t when saying Brady is back to normal. Remember they were the team that wouldn't put Maroney on the injury report fearing it would give opponents an advantage. Imagine what they won't put on the injury report to make Brady seem 100%.

Also what you call lucky I call a much improved team who took advantage of an opportunity. Our QB play was the best it has been in years (19 TD's, 7ints, 3500yds, & 67% completions), we were a plus 17 in the turnover category, & our defense was 9th best in points allowed last year. These are stats you expect to see from a good not great NFL team. Now you may say it was against weaker opponents, but isn't that what a good team is supposed to do, beat teams it is better than. I have a very tough time calling our season last year lucky.

Second note, I am really tired of hearing how everyone is predicting the Phins to do worse this year because of a tougher schedule. Don't they realize the talent on our team has improved. Not only through our players getting better with experience & the offseason acquisitions, but through our grueling training program & OTA's as well. I can't wait till this season when the Phins finally get what they deserve. RESPECT, AS A HARD NOSED FOOTBALL TEAM THAT NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY!!!

I'm just looking at what Sporano is gonna be telling his players to PISS THEM OFF. :)

The thing is it's not just the return of Brady but the additions to that offense. It looks better this year than any other regardless of who plays QB.

Also, do you think the team would have moved Cassel if the doctors or the team thought he wouldn't be able to be ready?

The reality is that New England looks tough to beat. Reporters and the rest of the league.....even us can't deny that.

Saying all of that, I still believe if Miami plays disiplined on both sides of the ball and run the ball well, they have a great chance of getting back into the playoffs.

They aren't going to stop hugging the Patriots nuts until someone knocks them off their pedestal. Most people give them a pass last year cause no Brady, and they still went 11-5. It's a tall task for Miami to overtake the Patriots in the division.

No offense dolphin fans but you won the division in a year w/o Brady. I tip my cap as we couldn't do it but having Brady back instantly makes the Pats the favorites and it's really not close. Porter can talk all he wants but any objective person knows this(I hate the Pats more than I hate the phins right now by the way).

Unless Brady doesn't return to pro bowl form like everyone is presuming he will do out of the gate. That is just as big an assumption. Let them beat the Dolphins and win the division because when the season starts they and not the Pat’s are the defending division champs. **** the Pats!

As far a moving Cassel, I don't know why Bellicheck does half the things he does, but I do know if they hadn't moved Cassel they wouldn't have been able to land the injury prone, over the hill, offensive free agents (Galloway and Taylor) you consider as upgrades because they wouldn't have had the cap space.

He may be a brilliant head coach but I also know he is very stubborn. His unwillingness to change his game plan probably cost the Pats the SB against the Giants, and I am hoping this same stuborness to realize the severity and return time of Brady's injury causes his demise once again.

Also, he has never been honest with placing his players on or off the injury report, so why should we believe him now when he says Brady is 100%. I just don't think Brady is going to be the QB he once was when the season starts which will lead to some New England losses. This is something that I have not seen one newspaper article or internet blog even consider. We have seen injuries time and time again affect the next seasons production of a QB so why is it so assinign to think Brady will be any different.

These are just a few of the main reasons on why I just don't see how you can already annoint the Pats as AFC East Champs, and not give the Pins a fair chance at defending their title.

Even if it takes him half the year to get back close to normal they'll still be in great shape. Remember w/o him they tied for the division, w/ him last year they win at least 3 more games and run away w/ the div.

Sounds about right. the AFC champs need to be defeated before they are not AFC champs.

I would not compare brady to manning as manning had his surgery during traning camp and did not play/train till the start of season where as brady is training and playing in non nfl feilds from Jan.

the reason of confidence is from every OTA kevin the 3rd rd QB drafted in 08 seem to be a faster ,stronger and better version of matt cassell. He has stronger arms and ran 2000 + yds in college. trading of matt cassell might have more to do with kevin than brady too.

Anyone remember this guy JT? For those who don't, he was the one who kicked Brady's arse, to the point of having Brady yelling at his team-mates on the OL. For Dolphans, it was something to behold.

Guess what? He's back, is pissed, and has something to prove. That is something to be concerned with, or even fear. :)

you just gotta love joey porter...

he's that loud mouth, trash talking, badass linebacker who talks the talk and walks the walk.

I love his attitude, it's not with "maybe-s" and "yeah but-s" and "if-s" that our team will have confidence and ambition. Porter wants it all, he's not afraid to say so, and it should rub off a lot of other players.

IMO any team needs a guy like that, we happen to have one of the best of'em

oh, btw nyjunc, stfu, your head coach is talking about championships, best defence, etc, so if you think JP is talking through his hat, think again and watch your HC's press conference, you douche (sorry 'bout that, but stop party poopin' our threads )
