ESPN Power Polls since 2002 (Good read)

Interesting to see the trend lines of each season. The Wannstedt Decline was sharp. I didn't realize there was such a sharp decline in the middle of Saban's 2nd season... We were ranked 31 at one point... Probably when Harrington took over.

Sparano had a similar trajectory to Wannstedt, only it didn't completely bottom out as the team performed better when Moore took over.

Talk about a depressing walk down memory lane. The points that got me were:

1. It is amazing how one to two sentences about a game several years ago can remind me of the exact game. Anyone else experience this?
2. The wildcat sure was fun when it was new, wasn't it? I loved the arse whoopin we put on the Patsies. Was great to see there fans abandon ship.
3. Almost every time we got good, and we would start getting some respect, we would tend to sh*t the bed. We all already know this, but further proof why we have so many jaded fans.
4. We sure did have a lot of bad quarterbacks.
5. Henne really did look like the answer there for a while.
6. Greg Camarillo used to be our best wide receiver. Crazy!
7. It is a shame we did not keep Wes Welker. Of course with our QB's, he would have never amounted to any more than Danny Amendola.
8. Tony Bua!!! What a block!
9. Ricky Williams sure was fun to watch that first season.
10. Ricky Williams sure did cripple us when he left.
11. Screw Saban!
12. Cam Cameron was such a joke.
13. I can't believe we lost to the Bills this year, at home, against a third string QB.
14. With all that being said, I truly feel like we have a better team now than we have had since 2002. We may not have the top tier talent in the likes of Zach Thomas, Ricky Williams, Jason Taylor, and Patrick Surtan (not to take anything away from Wake and Grimes), but I truly feel we are closer to having a great team than we were during any of those years I just took a trip through memory lane on. And I am drinking the Koolaid and think we have a better QB than we did during any of those seasons, who granted is still a developing player and we need to have patience with (I am speaking to me here as well as all of the individuals who seem to love to crucify him on these boards for every misstep).

Now lets go kick the Pat's arse!!! Go phins!

^ I was thinking the same thing. I was younger for the earlier years they posted but I can recall almost all of those games. The good and the VERY BAD.

Dont thinknit got any worse than that absolutley horse**** call against Jamar Fletcher against N.E.

Or maybe the lobster trap game against MIN...or ok ill stop i feel my anger building already.

I haven't looked yet but I will guess: was our last #1 rank after we beat Denver in a close one in? I seem to remember that.

Edit: it was.

I don't usually let old stats form my current opinion of a team, but the fact that the last 2 times we were 7-6 (2009,2010) we ended up 7-9 makes me a little nervous.

Also the game that Fiedler broke his thumb in. I still won't ever forget reading that news and how disappointing it was. I never could have guessed that a team that genuinely felt like a number one team then would only taste one playoff game in the next ten years.

It's funny how we all thought that Jay Fiedler was such a mediocre QB for how long he stayed here, but man, it's amazing to see what happened after that 5-1 start in 2002.

I remember thinking Ray Lucas would take over and be the next Brady... LMAO!

I went to the Buffalo game with my brothers and after that debacle everyone in the stadium was screaming for Fiedler to return...
