Miami takes Chris Long with the first pick in the draft.

This was mentioned after a segment on Ryan's Pro Day.

What I heard was Ryan admitted he was a "little bit rusty." Makes me wonder what he's been doing since the last game.
They mentioned his balls had a little "flutter" to them.
They also mentioned that he had good accuracy and "decent" arm strength.

Nothing I heard was outstanding in his favor. In fact, they mentioned the "fluttering" balls 3-4 times during the segment.

I'm not sure how much he's helped his draft position. I did like his interview, though. Seems like a really humble kid. He's not getting too wrapped up in all the media hype, which I respect. He stated that all one can do is work hard and prepare, and let everything else take care of itself.

I hope he has a successful NFL career.

Why blow another pick on a QB when first we are still not sure about Beck and second we have no system in place to protect a QB yet. Throwing rookie QB's to the wolves is wasting draft picks.

Sorry. I accidentally posted before I was finished.

It worked for Peyton Manning, Eli Manning and some others. Theres no real evidence to show you cant take a guy and just play him. The problem is that fans and the media are just too impatient (see Eli Manning). Brady won a Superbowl and Marino got to one in their first year, Rothlisberger won one real quick too.

If you think the guy has the potential to be a good or great QB then its not wasting a pick at all. The whole idea of just saying its a waste to pick a QB that high is just ignoring the facts of the matter. If a guy is really worth it then you take him.

The problem here is that Matt Ryan isn't worth it. Hes barely worth a first round pick at all. He is one of the worst "best QB in the draft" that I have ever seen in my life. When he talks he just sinks himself even deeper in my eyes. That fake confidence and defensive nature just set off all the alarms. I think its a very safe bet that we don't take him.

Thansk for the post... So Ryan admits to sucking now.. Lol..

Its pretty much common sense at this point that Chris Long is at the top of our draft board. I mean with the 1st pick, we definately arent taking Ryan as

1)he isnt the BPA

2)he is not worthy of the 1st overall pick and has Alex Smith written all over him, and in the same scenario as Alex Smith.. (Best QB on the board at that pick but picked WAYYYY to high for his talent level)

3)Qb isnt as much of a need as DL or OL

Either Long is the safest pick and thats where BP and JI are most likely going. Im sure we can all agree (the reasonable ones) that with the first pick, this is probably what Miami's player ranking looks like,

Chris Long/Jake Long/Vernon Gholston (its going to be between these three guys)

Ryan

I would love Chris Long. Playing opposite of JT that would be sick. NO MATT RYAN! Give beck a chance. I'm Tired of hearing all the Why Beck sucks and why we should get Ryan. Give the Kid a chance geez.:err:

The only way Ryan was going to help himself on pro day was by walking on water. Fins send one rep to his pro-day? What does that tell you. If I was going to draft Ryan with the first pick I would have the owner, GM and coach at his pro day. Especially since he didnt throw at the combine.

If ESPN is now saying that the Dolphins will select C Long...thats the kiss of death for him...ESPN is always wrong.

31 TD'S and ovr 4,000 yds....

yeah, that sure sux huh? and with more than forgettable wr's.

yep! worst prospect in YEARS!!

good thing don shula payed no attention to the 23 INT'S dan threw
his senior year.

31 td's and 19 int's with 4,000+ yds behind that.

now, if it was 21 td's and 19 ints, with 2700 yds passing, i could see
all the frothing and quivering. but 31 to 19 with bogus wr's?

i'll take that.

its to bad everyone is so rabid about defense when our offense is
worse. at first it was GLENN DORSEY, th finz were taking him for
sure. gotta have defense. gotta be DT or this drafts a bust.

now, its the same mentality but you can insert CHRIS LONG instead
of dorsey.

we score an average of 16 points a game over the last 3 years
and no one is even thinking mcfadden [best player in the draft]
or ryan. they would be a waste? come on!!

POINTS WIN GAMES AND CHAMPIONSHIPS AND PRO BOWL GAMES
AND PRE SEASON GAMES AND PLAY OFF GAMES!!!!

WE NEED POINTS ON THE BOARD. WE NEED SKILLPLAYERS WHO CAN
DO IT!!

They also mentioned how Peyton Manning's bals would flutter during his workouts. They mentioned how Matt Ryan should still be considered a franchise QB.

Personally, I want Gholston, if not then pick Matt Ryan.

Yeah. Mentioning anyone as "franchise" sells. That was the Draft researcher for ESPN that said all those things.

I just don't see "super special" written on Ryan.

I am mixed on him and Chris Long. I like them both a lot and was really impressed by Gholstons numbers at his pro day. If we end up with C. Long or Gholston, I would be satisfied.. .but for some reason I want Gholston more. I dont really know why, I just like him no ****.

Exactly. Gotta love the spin on this site. I have that order reversed. Although I think Chris Long is more my type of player I think Gholston would fit better. I have Ryan 1st, Gholston 2nd, Chris 3rd

Yes thank god he's not super special. Sounds like something you say about kids on the short bus
