ESPN's NFL Future Rankings

Lets try and keep a tally of all these rankings lately.

ESPN Future Rankings: #31
PFT Rankings: #31
National Football Post Preview: 30-32
Lindy's Magazine: 4th in division
Athlon Sports: 4th in division

We apparently made some really bad moves this offseason to drop from a team on the cusp(should have made it) of the playoffs to a team that is destined for 2-3 wins. Offensive line was historically bad last season, I guess according to these rankings we somehow got worse. Tannehill took a big leap from year one to year two, I guess according to these rankings he will have his worst NFL season. Moreno got hurt, but will be back for training camp, apparently his presence will make the running game worse. They shuffled some things at cornerback, but I guess losing Nolan Carrol is going to destroy the secondary. Paul Soliai is gone, apparently he was the heart and soul of the defensive line and the reason why Wake and Vernon combined for 20 sacks.

According to some of these rankings and previews the Martin/Incognito saga still plagues this team. Tensions must be strong in the locker room between Martin and Incognito.......oh wait, that is right, both are gone. Well the rest of the team must still be stung by all the in-locker bullying.....oh wait, that is right, no one besides Martin really ever saw this so called bullying. Wonder how that issue will continue to cloud the team going forward.

Sure this team has questions, so does every team. Will they win the Super Bowl? Probably not. Will they make the playoffs? Maybe, no guarantee though. Are they the worst or second worst team in the league? HELL NO.

I think you guys could finish anywhere from 2nd to 4th.

you also fail to mention all the new pieces on the OL and your best OL being out for the early part of the season, that's not good for a cohesive unit which you need.

you guys have talent but I mentioned this in another thread- you remind me of the early 90s Jets. we never could quite get over the hump despite playoff caliber talent. it's a very hard cycle to break and it took us bottoming out and getting a HOF coach to turn the franchise around. You have playoff caliber talent, I don't know that you have the coaching staff and I don't know that this team has the mental makeup to break through. They could but if I was betting I say they won't.

wait...huh? The jests got a new coach??

Seriously....he can't really be calling Rex a HOF coach......can he?

I said EARLY 90s Jets. we had playoff talent, even made one but w/ 8-8 record, but we couldn't get over the hump. We then bottomed out and HOFer BILL PARCELLS turned around our franchise and we have been a playoff contender in most seasons since BP took over.

People simply do not trust Miami, and with the results we've had in similar "almost there to the playoffs!" scenarios, I'm not really sure I do 100% either. Not trying to be a debbie downer; I've honestly got a lot of hope for the Fins to get the offense going this year, but we've been down this road many times. For journalists, betting against Miami is a "safe bet."

Yea.. We've been saying the Dolphins are ready to do some damage at the start of every year.. If you look at things objectively you'll see how much they've disappointed.

When we have guys like Sean Smith, Vonte Davis, Karlos Dansby, etc not do well when they are here but play well on their new teams that should tell you something. Either the coaching is bad or Miami does not have a winning attitude. Maybe players come here and they feel they can just relax. No accountability and no motivation from the coaches/organization. Until that changes we will continue to just be mediocre or below that. Players dont feel the need to try hard when they are collecting a paycheck and enjoying the sun. I dont blame them, its human nature to want the most with the least effort.

The most important piece of the puzzle is Tannehill. If he gets sucked into being lazy and loses his drive to get better by not being provided the right environment then this team will not be good.
