So I was reading about what ESPN's Scouts Inc feels about what happend in the game.

http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/insider/news/story?id=3574136 - Here is the link for those with ESPN Insider.

Here is what they had to say about the the Dolphins after their first game in week 1 against the Jets.

Miami
1. The new guy still is getting his bearings. The normally accurate QB Chad Pennington was a bit uncomfortable in the pocket early, which affected his weight transfer and resulted in some incompletions that floated high. After he settled down, Pennington expertly distributed touch passes on shallow crossing patterns and sideline wheel routes. But he continues to show a lack of zip on intermediate and deep throws.
2. The Dolphins can't forget their few playmakers. Failing to get WR Ted Ginn Jr. more involved on offense was a glaring mistake for Miami. New York used a lot of tight coverage techniques on Ginn and even appeared to roll coverage to him at times. But given Ginn's speed -- a rare skill in this offense -- Pennington needs to make defenses pay with downfield plays for crowding the receiver at the line of scrimmage.

Can't say I disagree with them. I think some of us on here are quick to throw in the towel so to speak. We need to stay focused on getting better. No need to just get upset or give up. We all want our dolphins to win. I really want us to win. But growing up and playing sports at a high level, I can accept a loss if I'm in the game and have a chance to win it.

Lets be honest here. Other then our 1 win last year. We were never 1 pass while in the redzone away from winning a game. With the refs against us, the media against us, and being a young football team with a new system and a new head coach, there will be some growing pains.

I'm of the belief that the not so distant future looks good for us Dolphins fans. As a matter of fact, I feel like we have a solid chance at winning our 1st game of the season next week against the Cards.

Lets all keep our heads up and remember what Tony Sparano has said, "we have 15 more of these things to go."

Coudlnt agree more. Most of our 3 point losses last year either came on the other team kicking the winning field goal, or us scoring a bunch of garbage time points to make the score look respectable. We really had a shot at winning yesterday.

Just remember....They're idiots because they don't give us our respect. These same idiots picked the Jets to win which they did, but, forget about that.

Uh, Scouts Inc actually picked us to win.

:sidelol: Good on Scouts inc then!

Shows how much they know I guess. I was assumeing they were among the "Experts" that chose us to lose.

Actually, they were really good on their analysis of what each team needed to do in order to win the game. There is a thread on here with it. You should take a look.

Come to think of it, 1 pass or some better reffing in that game and those "experts" would have been 1 of only 2 experts I saw having chosen the dolphins to pull out that victory.

I guess if "experts" are supposed to be perfect to be considered "experts" though.

Maybe they need to put Ted in motion more often or something. He could just juke the DBs that try to hold him up at the line of scrimmage. Either that, or Ted is going to need to get in the gym and get some more upper body strength like T.O. has.

Because of his weight, he's going to have some of the same problems as guys like Steve Smith with the Panthers has. Ted needs to find a solution to whatever the DBs come up with to stop him. Ted should use that speed and quickness whenever possible and ... if necessary .... just push those dudes back like a kid in a schoolyard shoving match. Get the Oline coach to work with him on his fundamentals of blocking, leverage, driving your legs, etc. Hit those dummy sleds in practice more. Whatever he's gotta do.

this is exactly what they need to do. to bring ginn in motion just like they did with chambers when he made the pro bowl.it stops the rolling over the top with coverage.gets him on the move and off the line.plus he is able to clear out a whole side for other wr's when he's running a crossing pattern.d -backs are going to take away the inside and push ginn deep outside where peeny has ahard time throwing deep outs.keep the backs in for blocking or dumping it off.i want r+r iso'd up on lbs coming out of the back field, not running patters down field to clear out defenders.its going to take some time.another 1 or 2 drafts and a couple of free agents and we will be very very good.

they say the wr's were blanketed all day [they were] and then
they go on to say they played ginn tight at the line and even
rolled coverage to him [which is correct].

then they lose ALL CREDABILITY when they go on to say "chad
should have gotten the ball down field more"..... BWAHAHAHAH!!!

to whom? to which blanketed wr?

chad did a MASTERFUL job of taking what was there and not forcing
something that had int written all over it. thats why he is THE MOST
ACCURATE QB in NFL HISTORY!!

just because you lob downfield doesnt mean that anyone is going to catch
it. there is only ONE miami dolphins defense! [see the farve lob]

they were on target untill they contradicted there analysis.

MP08!!

Miami has to stop being so consevative. Use a little imagination to get these guys open and loosen up the defense.

they should put Ginn in the slot and run alot of 4 wide single back sets. ginn will open across the middle. that is what i do on madden. it will work in real life. he would be matched up against linebackers. unless they go nickel, and then we run it out of the single back. i need to be the offensive coordinator. these guys don't know how to call plays.

This isn't madden my freind. If we bring out 4 WR's, I guarantee you they won't line a LB on Ginn. Most likely they will run a dime with 4 CB's. As far as being open in the middle, maybe. maybe not. Alot of teams run zone defenses to try and take away the middle, especially going up against Pennington, due to his "lack of arm srength", so they will try and make him throw to the outside.

It really pisses me off seeing posts where people try to compare Madden to reality :rolleyes2:

Ginn continues to struggle against press coverage... it was a significant issue with him prior to the draft and continues to this day...

Ginn fails to run efficient routes... still... and now you can add he fails to recognize defenses and where he needs to be in his route running

His failure to man up and catch and return a VERY returnable punt is troubling as well.....

To date he has yet to show the physical and mental toughness required to play at a high level on game days...

He is what he is until consistantly proven otherwise on Sundays... but I'll give him time to develop in the first 4 games with an accurate QB running the show....

Although disappointed in the run game I thought the offense showed signs of life...

I suggest everyone take a look at the season in 4 game sections to see if progress is being made... this whole game to game deal just sin't going to provide enough facts or situations to determine if we are improving...
