ESPN's take on our cuts

Biggest surprises: One sign of a bad team is their inability to cut good players. They don't have enough of them to have a surplus. While the New England Patriots were cutting starters such as CB Fernando Bryant and LB Victor Hobson, the Dolphins' most-experienced deduction was TE Justin Peelle, who has 39 starts in his six-year career. The fact a rebuilding team would cut a draft pick, sixth-round RB Lex Hilliard, also was surprising.

It hurts but is true. But don't worry my Phins fans brothers in the next years we are going to be the ones letting starters go because we have better players

Ehhh, what was so bad about what was written? I think everyone is getting so bent out of shape over the negative press our Dolphins get that they are reading into things way too much.

I didnt read anything that I thought was really negative, we're coming off a 1-15 season. I wouldnt except too much praise.

Call me an optomist, but I have a feeling this team will make these touts eat thier words.

We’ve got like nine guys on our team from last year don’t we? We’ve been cutting players from that abysmal team from last year ever since last year. These are just the very latest to get down to the required number of players as of today. We went through some half assed rebuilding efforts in the past, but there is no doubt this is the real deal, and quite well under way. We will be back very soon.

My issues stem from these reporters from national media outlets who speak as experts yet nearly everyone who posts here knows more about what is going on with the Dolphins than they do.

"One sign of a bad team is their inability to cut good players."

This kind of crap is getting old. Yes, we were 1-15, but we are a MUCH better team now than we were last year. Better coaching. Better players.

In fact, two of the players we would have cut, garnered us draft picks in trades, so perhaps we do have some excess players with ability.

"The fact a rebuilding team would cut a draft pick, sixth-round RB Lex Hilliard, also was surprising."

Perhaps this fact contradicts your statement above. Why not recognize the Dolphins are very strong at running back, and a sixth-round pick breaking through would have been an upset.

"For a team that went 1-15 last year and could not manage to attract many free agents in the offseason..."

Huh? We attracted many free agents. Smiley, Starks, Torbor, Crocker, Wilford (and Pennington). Maybe they are not the biggest names, but I think that was by design.

Yes, I know, until we win on the field, this won't go away.

Exactly. We didn't sign half the Pro Bowl squad, but we signed a bunch of quality players and have shored up a defense that I believe will be significantly better than last year's horror show. Plus, I agree that Pennington was a steal that will come back to haunt the Jets.

If they are talking about this cut down- fine-ok so this last waive of players are on no ones short list.

Even so you would think they would include players cut this off season and if they were one of two things happen

they forgot zack thomas
or they don't know who zack thomas is

Either way it kinds of fits espn

It's to be expected. These people don't follow the Phins as closely as the more dedicated fans. If you want informed opinions then venture on over to the local beat writers. They may not posses the eloquence of the ESPN writer, but the knowledge of the team is there.

What I don't understand is why fans issue these bitter complaints while at the same time scouring the national media's sites for little tidbits on their beloved team. If you feel they lack an understanding of what is going on in Miami, then you are free to ignore what they publish. No need to search for and attempt to discredit every opinion piece written.
