this is from his blog..............http://blogs.sun-sentinel.com/sports_seasonticket/
Just attended the press conference in Davie and, while I don't have time to post much now, I will say that most of us came away convinced that he is planning to seriously entertain this offer. While he spoke about "our" team in reference to the Dolphins, and was very specific about players, he stopped well short of shutting off the speculation. There were caveats galore, such as not wanting to talk about the situation "at this time."
"That's your impression," he said to a media member who thought it sounded like there was an offer he would be considering.
It's the one he left to many of us. And I've said many times that I think that ultimately he will stay.
Here was one really strange response, when he was asked when it would be appropriate to ask about the University of Alabama situation:
“I’m not sure. When it is appropriate for me to have a chance to look at my wife and talk to her? When is that appropriate after getting home at
one o’clock
in the morning last night and being here all day today? Is that appropriate for me to do? We don’t have to talk about that, just to talk to her. Say, ‘honey I miss you.’ How about, ‘happy New Year.’”
For the record, his wife was with him in Indianapolis.
The more I think about this, the more I think that from a lifestyle perspective, Saban would like to take the Alabama job. He prefers a smaller-town atmosphere, he likes living on a larger plot of land, he likes dealing with younger players. And I don't believe he has confidence that his team is particularly close here.
The question is whether he can abandon the Dolphins and, in turn, this challenge, and not lose face. And whether Huizenga's efforts to keep him (money, years) will be enough.
By the way, if Saban leaves, I seriously doubt that Huizenga would promote Dom Capers. Huizenga promoted "a right-hand man" when Jimmy bolted. He won't repeat that move.
