Hard to argue with the needs, but I think MLB needs to be a 1a/1b situation with guard.

As for the the draft, I'm not complaining. Kendricks in the first and I'm happy. I can't say I know a lot about the other guys mocked to us, but interesting nonetheless. I'd hope with our needs being as obvious as they are, we don't royally botch the draft. Which could happen

I would have to agree that MLB and OG are the two biggest needs. I'd be damn happy if that's how the Fins draft turned out as well.

Craig Mager is an interesting pick...small school CB that I think has potential to become a starter in the NFL. I only saw him in the East-West Shrine game so I'm not sure if he's more man-to-man press corner or off coverage.

Ali Marpet I like a lot...but 2nd round is way high for him. Marpet, Mager, Smelter and Lewis are all guys that will have to sit a year and learn IMO. That doesn't help us now. You can probably work Marpet and Mager in a little...maybe even Lewis in some red zone packages (6'4" receiver with good leaping ability) but Smelter is coming off an ACL tear and the other 3 guys are all small school (in Marpet's case really, really small...who knows where Hobart is? lol) players that will take time to develop.

Ellis McCarthy I'm not very high on. Big bodied DT but he's really slow, not very athletic. If you watch his tape, UCLA has him stunt a lot and it's like watching an aircraft carrier make a sharp turn.

love the first rounder...love it...too high on marpet though...i could easily see him making it a pillow fight at guard and he projects better on the pivot imo from a strength aspect...dont know much about mager yet or smelter i know i have no interest in smelters teammate and love the desmin lewis pick in the 5th

Kendricks would be solid. Excellent pick.

Agreed on Marpet going too high.

i think if it broke like this and you drafted either of those wrs or both in the 5th round you probably are looking at a veteran wr addition for 2015 right after the draft so you can develop the other twos games and red shirt them if possible

doubt either ones plug and play from week 1

Most likely Smelter would be placed on IR and just given the red shirt year.

I just got a look at Craig Mager in 3 games and I can safely say...pass. Not a good pick for us. He's raw, doesn't look like he likes to get physical in run support and if I'm taking a small school kid that high at a skill position I want to see him dominate at his level of play. See for yourself.

With the way we are building this offense, with smaller more athletic lineman and quick possession type wr's, I think we are always going to be a pass first offense. Which IMO means if we are gonna score td's instead of fg's we are going to need a true #1 receiver that can be a big RZ threat. You cant have a fast paced, zbs, that relies on short to intermediate routes AND be built to smashmouth it into the endzone. You cant have it both ways. I think we should grab a wr in the first round if any of the top guys are there, including dgb. The other option I would say is if trae waynes falls to us we should grab him, and with tannenbaums love of cb's it is pretty likely he would.

I really like it... Especially Smelter. No need to go 2 receivers though.. That's overkill, imo. Get a FS in the 5th and i'm happy with that draft.

Didn't like his mock at all.

The other thing concerning guard. Billy Turner is not a guard and is a natural tackle with most of his snaps being on the left side. So, if your bound and determined to force a player into a position he has never looked good in, at least put the guy on the side he has played at his whole football life, Left Side!!!!

All I hear is Turner at right guard (don't think the team has said which side) but every writer and fan says right guard. I say put him on the left side where he is comfortable and has been successful. That's a bit more logical to me. Give the guy at least a fighting chance!!

Kendricks!!! awesome... i like that.

Ali Marpet, 2nd round is early for him, who else would be around i wonder... but it would get scary if not OG as well in round 2 because all the talent most likely will be gone after round 2 and we dont have a 3rd round pick.

Craig Mager..... eh... i'll just say keep his personal favorite for someone else. i would hope more for a CB- Steven Nelson there.

doubling up on WR... nice nice... Smelter i am more iffy on, i think there may be better options out there to get. But Dezmin Lewis, I like that pick!!!

I know nothing on Ellis McCarthy... but after what datruth saidabout him, i dont think i am going to look him up and just say definite pass as well.
