I believe that Daunte will win games for us in the future. As much as I would still rather see Daunte on the field now(I don't believe he's injured), a plan to increase his explosiveness and movement sounds intriguing. He's the quarterback of the future despite anyone's opinion on Joey. Hopefully we can actually see some improvement with Daunte over time, I don't care if its not seen until next year.

I can't see Saban going back to Culpepper over Harrington next year if Harrington has a good rest of the year (assuming he starts the rest of the year). It would be like getting close to the finish line, and deciding to start over. Just playing Devil's Advocate. And yes, I prefer Harrington in this offense more than Culpepper.

this is a plan that should have been given to daunte this preseason not 5 games into the season

Right now he's a third string backup who has played himself out of a job. He is horrible and I don't see him in any future plans that involve winning games.

it isnt a new plan, it is an old plan that got brought back up

this is what should have been done to begin with, if this was what happend in the first place, the daunte bashers would not have seen a player playing with half of his ability

and think that is the daunte we are always going to have

which is not

IF you don't believe that CULPEPPER is injured .... AND you would rather still see him out there .... hmmmmmm .... I'm speechless

I like Joey starting, for now. If he becomes our QB of the future, so be it. If DC comes back strong I will be just as pleased. I just want to win games, and whichever QB does that is who I'll root for.

I believe every word Saban said today. Daunte is not 100%. He still limps during the game and has lost significant explosivness and lateral movement. He needs to rehab. This is referring to his old injury from which he has not fully recovered. If he stayed on the field at this time with our current offensive limitations, he would greatly risk further injury and be a detriment to himself and the team. That's virtually what Saban said today and I believe it.

I agree 100% and I am happy we have three good QB's on the team. I like Cleo Lemon too, he showed some promise in the preseason. :dolphins: We will get this ship going in the right direction, coach Saban will see to it.

Ive always Saban will do whats best for the team. It's just how he spins it through the media.
I really think Saban WANTS to win. I think he is more than a coach who says,"Well, I got DC for a second rounder, I gotta keep him in there."

It is rather obvious that Saban did this BECAUSE he believes Daunte Culpepper is the quarterback of the future for this team.

He gave up a second round pick, converted about $7 million of his contract money into guaranteed money, and there are actually people out there who believe that Nick Saban is stupid enough to scrap all that after 4 games because of some subpar play behind a putrid offensive line while hurt?

Are there people out there THAT ridiculously short-sighted?

This WAS the plan when we signed Harrington, Dunno why Saban then decided to use an "injured" Daunte.

i do like this, i wanted this at the beginning of the season

it just sucks it took 5 weeks into the season to do it

I think you are right but I also see how there was really no way to know he would be taking this many hits in his current condition.

The positive of this is that Daunte has an incredible power of focus when he wants something really bad. We saw that with the tremendous and rapid progress he made in his rehab process in just strengthening the knee.

He also has an extremely gifted body, capable of losing weight and gaining weight as he pleases, maintaining speed and athleticism, etc.

It is hard to have a guy focus in a bunch of different directions at once, and when the season began, it became time to focus on Pittsburgh...and then Buffalo, and then Tennessee, and then Houston, etc.

Nick Saban made the decision to knock him off that track so that he can renew his focus on the rehab and this new explosiveness training regimen they gave him. Simple fact of the matter is it is hard to convince a guy that is working his tail off to get ready for New England, to take some of his attention away from New England to work on getting his knee explosive again, moving well laterally, etc so that he can execute dropbacks, handoffs, etc as smoothly as Joey Harrington can.

So, now Daunte is third string...and he's not prepping for teams anymore, he's working on getting into shape. And, he's been told he won't get back into the lineup until he does get into better shape. Lighting a fire under his butt isn't really the word...Saban basically derailed a locomotive and pointed it in a different direction that he feels will be more productive long term.

On the bright side, Daunte wants to be here and wants to win with this team so badly he will take that and probably approach the whole thing with the correct attitude. If it were a different player, he might not...he might just pack it in and convince himself he needs to go somewhere else. But, he can't and won't do that, he's committed to this team, to being successful in FL where it all started for him. If he approaches this new workout stuff the same way he approached his rehab and has approached everything the Phins have asked him to do to get ready for opponents...then I really do have confidence he will be back within a few weeks of the bye week.
