do you think the Richard Smith and Will Muschamp have done a good job calling a defensive game and installing a game plan? Personally, I don't. I know Smith is the DC but some have stated that Muschamp makes the defensive calls. From my vantage point, I think we have been too predictable and we haven't mixed up different coverages enough. I feel that there has been a lack of creativity and we have become stagnant. A lot may have to do with the personnel but it's like we're blitzing on every down and the other team knows it.

I'm not sure about those blitzes either...But we sure do give different looks like Jayson Taylor dropping back on coverage and getting beat...

I really like the safety blitzes when Schulters and the LCB comes from both angles ...That blitz always work..

i dunno, i dont think the blitz has been kind to us. In the Atlanta game, CBS's announcers kept claiming we were showing our blitz too easily, which gave Vick the advantage. Who knows?

Well its hard to say.. The new system looks awesome. I notice lots of different formations, coverages, personnel use, blitzes, stunts etc. Our old system was just line up and play, which was boring and predictable. I feel like there are two problems right from the start: 1) We dont have necessarily the personnel with the right skills for it at certain spots (LB especially) and 2) Guys dont seem familiar enough with it. Our blitzes are ineffective much of the time because either they are too obvious (because our guys are thinking too much and not just going at the snap, they need to actually prepare to blitz.. this will get better over time) or the guy gets blocked because he lacks the speed, size, mental toughness or whatever. My favorite play that we have, and it probably is the one that works most often, is when just Zach blitzes up the middle. I think its a run blitz and it almost always stops the opposition for a loss. I also like when we send 1 corner, such as during the Saints game when we sent Howard. We get in trouble when we send the house or too many DBs.. that is because our CBs arent good enough in man to man coverage. But, as another positive, I like that Muschamp has stuck with it and not gone vanilla because its the only way the guys will learn, by using the plays in game situations. I think over time and with the right personnel moves, the defense will be scary. I see lots of nice things. I really believe that Muschamp is the coordinator and Smith is really there for gameplanning and because he probably has some knowledge of NFL players and coaches and their tendencies.
