Dolphins retain HC Joe Philbin: D Grade
Joe Philbin is not head-coaching material. He was absolutely oblivious to what was going on in his own locker room when the bullying scandal was going on; he reportedly doesn't have the respect of his players; and he failed to motivate his team in a Week 17 matchup with the divisional-rival Jets, when a victory could've given his team a winning record.

Philbin has a fine offensive mind, but he's better off being a coordinator. He just can't cut it as a head coach, and this is extremely obvious to almost everyone, so it's curious as to why owner Stephen Ross hasn't fired him yet. In fact, if I were Ross, I'd can Philbin and hire Rex Ryan. This would give me a head coach who could stymie Tom Brady, and Ryan wouldn't have to worry about the offense, given that Bill Lazor is already in place to tutor Ryan Tannehill.

Philbin hasn't done a terrible job with the Dolphins, which is why I haven't given this an "F," but it's pretty clear that he's not the answer because he's overmatched, and he doesn't command the respect of his own players.

Rex and Joe both have a .479 win/loss percentage. So I hope if Miami gets a new coach, they have a better track record.

Is this the same Tom Brady the Jets couldn't beat but bring Rex here and he can now beat him?

You know Philbin's staying right?

He is probably repressing that thought or looking at 2016

yes, I do know philbin is staying. i'm saying when they do look for another coach.

Joe should get an F. He had to be forced to bring in Lazor and a new line coach.

Rex Ryan is actually a head coach not like amazing philbin
Pretty sure they are both actually head coaches. and they both have the same win/loss percentage. Both have zero super bowl wins or appearances. Sure, Rex had a few playoff runs. big whoop. Joe has never had a 4 win team either.

edit: technically, rex is not a head coach. he has no job title, currently.

Yeah big whoop! Butt fumble and Geno Lol And of course we made Geno look like an elite qb. Philbin has more talent to work with unlike the jets.

I'm not sure Philbin would be a good coordinator; he didn't call plays in Green Bay as he was more of a PowerPoint maker/quality control coach. He'd far too conservative in today's NFL to call plays. I personally don't think Joe Philbin does much of any coaching at all. Actually I'm not even sure WHAT Joe Philbin does for the Miami Dolphins.

Funny how rex takes a less talented team and whoops our asses but some think philbin is the better coach.
