I have heard many opinions on whether the Dolphins should restructure Suh's contract. Many of the opinions I have read have said that the Dolphins should NOT restructure Suh's deal. Suh's deal is structured to have a large cap hit this year (28.6 mil), while in other years his salary increases gradually, except in the final year. In my opinion, it would make more sense to balance out his cap hit evenly over the duration of his contract. Doing so would not jeopardize the future and give us more flexibility to sign our own free agents and/or to 1 quality player in free agency. Suh has $108.28 million remaining on his salary, which would average to about $21.66 million each year. While I agree that restructuring his entire base salary for this year would have salary cap ramifications, restructuring his salary moderately helps us this year and potentially in the other years of his contract.

They should pay suh an even contract so his final year he doesn't hold out.. He cares about money.

I personally never liked the Suh signing, I expressed that feeling but was outright chewed out my beloved FHers. One of the reason was that the team was not that close and I don't agree with paying so much for a DT. To restructure this guy now with be like a death sentence to the Miami Dolphins salary cap for 3 to 4 yrs. The only thing that could sooth that pain is if we start winning now that way no one would care. But are we close to winning ?

If we can't get rid of him (never wanted him at the contract he got, not a good value), then I think it's best to take the huge hit this year as we aren't going to be realistic Super Bowl competitor in 2016 this year anyways. Let's take the huge hit this year so we can be more competitive in the future when we (hopefully) have a better team and direction.

As of now, if we take the huge hit this year, next year we pay Suh $15M and his guarantees are met. Then, we can move him with $10.2M in dead money and $11.9M in cap savings. I like that option.

We can do a new deal or move on, and he will be 31.
