With the Fullback competition going on, both Fullbacks are doing great. I really dont think we should get rid of Barnes or Beasley. What if we had a Full House formation?? We have both Barnes and Beasley blocking, and Ronnie Brown running? Dont u think that we could make excellent holes and lanes for Ronnie to run thru with both of them blocking at the same time??

Green Bay ran some of that w/ the Packers. It's a nice change of pace but it's a little predictable, you're replacing a wide-receiver with a fullback, which it gonna tighten up the defense. I'd like to see them try it in 4th quarter situation, where we have the lead and are milking the clock.

4th Qtr & milking the clock is about the ONLY time I would want to see a full house backfield.

One thing I never understood is why nobody plays full house back field like they do in college, the same with options and veers, their are very good.

hows about this for a crazy formation

Could be usefull in goal line as well.

Instead of the two full backs leading the way for Ronnie. Traylor lined up at tight end with Wilkinson at fullback.......Jumbo Jumbo package. Play might take a while to develop and reach the line of scrimmage, but damn, don't you know there would be a pile of our opponents lineman moving backwards:sidelol:

Because they don't work in the NFL on a consistent basis. Let's take the option, for example... Because of the speed of the NFL defenders, that play would be stretched for little to no-gain most often than not, and your QB you get clocked as a runner on just about every play... You don't want that in the NFL.

As for the full-house backfield, it makes the formation more tight, thus, the defense more tight, and thus, with the talent level of the NFL, your running plays would go nowhere and with the intelligence of the defences, they would be hard-pressed to be fooled by play-action.

As for veer, probably a combination of all of the above...

Ok, that make sense, didnt thought of that, but once in a while should work, specialy if nobody is expeting it

I have always enjoyed it when teams give their gigantic D-linemen a chance to contribute on the other side of the ball. I think the D-line guys dig it too

I would say, full house with jumbo package could work on the goalline, provided your front is big enough... Because the other problem with the full house 'relative' to the talent level in the NFL is that, by putting an extra back in the backfield, you have to remove someone from the live, which can cause more penetration on overloads and stop your run for a loss... So, you need to be super-confident that your line can hold until your backs get to the hole...

But yes, the option and other plays work like a trick play in the NFL, I thing the Steelers use the option once in a while, but not with Roethlisberger running but with Hines Ward doing the running and taking hits.

Miami used a 2-fullback(or Fullback/Hback) formation a couple times last season, most notably on the two long runs Ricky Williams had vs. Tennessee on the last scoring drives.

I dont think we'll see it a whole lot with Mularkey. You might see a TE motioning in to lead block from time to time, but he doesnt seem much like a full house kinda guy.

If any of our defensive tackles see time on offense, it's going to be Fred Evans. He played Guard early in his college career, and seems to have enough of a mean streak to make up for any lack of technique or experience at least situationally.

Would be a nice formation to run playaction out of on the goal line. May catch someone off guard.
