Credit goes to a fellow named Mainge on The Phins forum for putting this together.

As for someone who didn't get a chance to watch the game live (I live in Boston, so you know how that goes)... I was eager to see Tannehill's performance with my own eyes since I've seen so much outrage on the website at how he played. I don't think he played as badly as most made it out to be, but man... he didn't look too good either. I will say the three things that played a major factor were Buffalo's Defense (as a whole, not just the D-line. The defenders on the back end were quick and swarming to the ball), That crowd (We all know Ralph Wilson's home is a tough place to play ,especially for us) and there were way too many drops. I think we come out a lot stronger against the Chiefs than we did against our division foes. Game 1 showed what we were capable of when we face adversity and fight to the end.... Game 2 was a wake up call letting us know that we can't start out like crap and expect to make a comeback every time.

Every game in a season has its own story within the major plot line that is the journey of a team throughout the season. Last season was a rollercoaster ride, albeit for the wrong reasons. This season so far has the makings of a rollercoaster ride for reasons that we might feel are even worse than last year.

Let's see what Game 3 has in store for us.

Thanks for the link. I didn't see the game in full either, and yeah, this board made a huge huge deal out of what was a mediocre game from Tannehill. Some missed throws, but also some throws in very tight windows.

It doesn't matter if you watch this game, Week 17 game of this year, or the Oklahoma game from his Sr. year in 2011. The same issues keep coming up. Field vision, decision making, overall instincts, ability work through progressions quickly, ball placement, and deep ball accuracy and batted passes which are a result of his low delivery point. Those aren't going away. They've all been there since college and everyone is waiting for them to magically disappear.

Having said that he isn't as bad as half the board thinks and the other half has already inducted him into the hall of fame. I've said since the beginning of the season that he's the 20th best QB in the league and nothing in these 2 games has caused me to change my opinion one way or the other. If they are in a position to upgrade him in the draft then do it, he's not the answer. But he isn't terrible either. He's an average/below average starter. Like he's been since college.

i'd like to hear some examples of poor decision making and not going thur his progressions from this video please

I'll go back and watch it and give you a full scouting report on his entire game. Meanwhile, please tell me when the same issues I mentioned that he's had since college will go away?

This is what stood out for me in the Buffalo game. I quickly watched the coaches film on NFL Rewind last night. My biggest take away is that we were out coached just as much as we were out executed. The Bills defense seemed to be waiting for many of the plays that were called.

It's not he doesn't go through his progressions, it's he gets caught up on a read waiting for them to get open when he should simply progress to the next read, or check down. Doesn't have the mental clock and holds onto the ball too long.

I just don't see this with any regularity. IMO, his only issue is that he waits too long to run when nobody is open. Some QBs are too quick to scramble and some are too slow too scramble. It is difficult to find the balance. IMO, the best answer is for guys to get open.

you said he's shown the same issues the first 2 games he's had his entire career...i'm asking you to provide examples of poor decision making and not going thru progressions this year...i look forward to getting these specific takes from you...

cause nothing against you but you weren't here even last year so i have nothing but your word to take you on that you said all these things about the qb or any other prospect from prior...and i know i have yet to hear you mention anything about even a hint of a wrong take on anyone...

Yup. He needs to know when to bail out and run for whatever he can.

ahhh ok i can see some of that...but is the ball coming out faster this year or not??? cause it sure looks like it is to me...a few times he's held it sure...but every qb does that...sometimes...hell i watched aaron rodgers who i will agree with you is the best qb in football right now by a long shot hold the ball and take sacks or hold the ball too long against the jets...

and he's not a 3rd year qb...

Please show me where anyone here has Tannehill the hall of fame.

i would like to see him run sometimes...he just seems content to stay back there til a play dies...but so does joe flacco and the ravens won a damn super bowl with him and he's not a 20th best qb in football either...

the instincts on some things arent' what you want them to be...but he's also not a finished product...at least to me he's not

I will willingly admit his play speed has improved this season and he's working quicker from 1 to 2 to 3 or checkdown etc. I'm almost done with the end of the 1st quarter and will post a play by play report on Tannehill. Would rather post all at once.

there's things like subtle lateral steps in the pocket that tannehill does not do...it's not a part of his game right now...nor has it been for 3 years now...whereas guys like rodgers and luck that is a part of their game...i'd like to see some development there...but if anyone wants to tell me the decision making as to where the balls going relative to the coverages being played and timing on throws as far as when the ball comes out relative to routes being run is not good enough take a hike
